Cadillac has announced the recall of certain 2010 and 2011 model year SRX crossovers for a potential transmission defect. The recall covers vehicles produced from October 26, 2008 through June 23, 2011.
According to Cadillac, those SRX models in question may have left the factory with an improperly installed transmission shift cable. That improper installation may allow the transmission cable to come out of the transmission bracket.
If that event happens, the driver may be unable to shift the vehicle into gear. The defect may also falsely indicate that the vehicle is in park, increasing the likelihood of a roll away crash.
GM will begin the SRX recall sometime next month.
The U.S. SRX recall covers 8,789 units, although reports have suggested that the recall will include a total of 20,000 units worldwide.
