GMCsyclone: My 70-mile commute is kicking my ass. Trying to downsize from an Olds to a Mazda5. Four kids, and I'm the only driver in the household.

You should follow your instict. That new silverado rules!

Htay5500, i won't flame you. in fact, my primary car is an RSX. when i bought it in 2003, i was facing a 130 mile a-day commute. it was what i believed (at the time) to be the best choice to do that in, knowing it would be run to the ground. relatively reliable, but it wouldn't be my first choice given it to do over again. i can't wait to trade it in on a new Chevy or GMC full-size now that my commute is normal.

Brendino:
Camry's ... not head-and-shoulders over the Aura.
No infact the Camry is in fellating position compared to the Aura.

Once again, the Dodge Charger is the only vehicle that makes me wish I was in the market for a 4-door.

I can afford a quality product. I can't afford to overpay for something inferior (read camcord/tl/es330).

Maybe I'm, bitter because I know I should have bought a saturn years ago intstead of a honda ....

AMGoff, I like your attitude, but I would carry it one step further and outlaw those little V6 decals on the decklids. it's just retarded

bcjohnso99 - You retraded dickhead stop talking shit out your ass and actually try thinking before you speak. Queerboy it may be differnt spec of engine but it will be the same design in porinciple as it will be setup in the same way. Either way if their engines where even half decent then why don't Mercedes use them seeing as they own half the company? Cos they are crap that why bimbo

Plus dipshit, the Saturn Aura is still a Opel underneath so I don't think saturn had to do much work to it just maybe change a few badges. It dessigned in germany thats why its half decent.

@gmcyclone: im not a big fan of toyota except their land cruiser, but the camry is gonna still sell. I was in the camry and it was better than the rental impala. go try out the aura yourself. the fact tht toyota had more recalls than gm is tru but not gonna get you far. im a fan of their (GM) trucks and SUVS but their passenger cars need improvement on their quality to be as close as their competitors. on the other hand, we own the 07 accord. flame me if you want but the quality of the interior is liteyrs ahead of its competition. the dashboard is soft to touch and the material and build quality is amazing.

Htay5500, can you substantiate those claims? any of them? because they fly in the face of everything else i'm seeing and reading. and if i remember correctly, toyota had more recalls last year than GM. have you even sat in a new toyota lately to see the reduced quality for yourself? i think its hilarious to watch you anti-domestic guys get all worked up as you run out of amunition.

LP640, whats up with the racist slur?

i think the news of the diesel engines is great. i don't have much experience with them but they should help GM meet the new fuel standards.

I've decided that some of you would rather be drug to your death than give GM some credit. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 02 Duramax, and will be replacing it with a new 08 Duramax, point being GM is very capable of putting together a great diesel package. And to you guys bad-mouthing Saturn, even the import loving Consumer Reports had to admit that the new Saturn Outlook is a damn nice ride.

AMGoff - I think that the Camry's four-banger is the best argument for it. It's not fun, but it's fast enough, and 24/33 is attractive.

That being said, it's not head-and-shoulders over the Aura. LP640, I hope you're not benchmarking every vehicle to a Lambo to determine quality. What are some of the best cars right now in your eyes?

I've come to the conclusion that I must be the only person who doesn't care about a 4-cyl. option, probably because I have never and never plan of buying anything less than a 6.

btw, saturns challenge w/ its biggest rivals are wayy off, note tht the aura doesnt offer a 4-cyl (until their hybrid comes out but thts out of the question) when they decide to bring in the 4-cyl models of the camry and accord and the aura being demonstrated is a v6. however this would be a dumbfounded comparison.

My apologies LP640, how 'bout I just slap a Toyonda badge on one and just sell to you for an extra 5K. We get it, you don't like GM. If I don't just completely skip over the posts about cars I don't like then at the very least I'll usually refrain from comment. Maybe you should try the same once in a while. The new Caddies are gorgeous and the Aura is a great looking car much more so than the manatee-Camry.

The new Caddies are gorgeous and the Aura is a great looking car much more so than the manatee-Camry.

actually, the aura has some quality and design problems. I know someone who was advertising the aura. If you look at the front skirt/lip of the bumper, it's made out of plastic, not even polyurathane.(therefore prone to shattering from road hazzards, and looks really bad after the fact). The rear deck has a very poor fit and finish, it makes this scratching noise, like fingers on a chalk board when going over bumps. The front A-pillars have very-very poor visibility from driver side especially the right passenger side. If you drive downtown you have a higher chance of hitting a pedestrian on the street, no matter how aware you are when driving. Poor radio reception, even on all major radio stations. The flexfit windshield wipers tends to wear out or loose contact within 2 months of use leaving poor visibility at times. Door locks tends to malfunction. As the car gains more milage as you drive, you will notice more road and wind noise as the door seals tend to wear and flatten out more quickly, so contact between the doors and the car itself is less of a tight fit. And gas milage on their V6, for a 62 Litre gas tank(13 gallons) get an average real world driving(weather you use the lowest or highest grade of gas) about 365 kms to the tank. Do not understand the placement of the Onstar antenna, why in the front? When it typically looks better in the rear? You tell me guys...Well these are the common complaints about this particular model from clients after delivery or within 4,000 kms driven.

stfu.
You have diarrhea of the mouth
bcj: good point

It's about time the general had diesel cars.
At some point, we'll see diesel-electric hybrids. That's already how many subs are powered

Stuart, these diesels are DESIGNED by the company that made the Liberty's diesel but they are NOT the same. The Liberty had a 4-cylinder. GM's will be a V6.

At least read the article before you curse us with your drivel, dumb-ass.

"This doesn't change the fact that nobody wants to buy GM automobiles."

Ass. You hardly count as everybody, regardless if you're a nobody or not. The new Caddies are some of the best in a long, long time. The Saturns are damn nice as well. I've sat in both the new Aura as well as the new Toyondas, I can't see how anyone would say that the quality of one is better or worse than the other. Some people on this site never cease to amaze me, you all lambaste the General for not bringing out diesels, they finally announce them and it's still not good enough for you. Sheesh...

No 50-state compliance is a big drawback. That knocks out a big portion of U.S. car buyers out of the market right away. Some of the largest car buying states in the country are CA, NY and NJ. Most of GM's competitors are going to offer 50-state diesels, or none at all.

The diesels are actually the same diesels that are found in the Jeep Liberty as is one of the worst diesels around. They are loud, down on power and not as clean as equvilent. They should have just brought engines from Volkwagen or someone
