Anybody that has even looked at or test driven a 2008 CTS, will quickly realize what a bunch of non-informed folks are out there. It is more than competitive feature for feature and at a significant $ savings over both the 3 series BMW or the Camry (oops, Lexus)

Cire: I think I misunderstood you.

You said "entry-level," and i though "cobalt." What you meant was "smaller luxury," and I'm OK with that, as long as it's close to the 3-series and S-class. i'd hate to see them go the japanese route and slap a caddy badge on a Malibu/Aura

If the CTS is nearly the size of a 5-Series or E-Class, then I don't see why it would be a bad idea to offer something to directly compete against the 3-Series and C-Class (as well as the Lexus IS). For Cadillac to be a competitive full scale luxury brand, it must offer products in all core segments of the luxury car market. I still think this product would be a little more crucial in Europe than here, but there might be some people in the U.S. that would appreciate a well made, rear wheel drive, compact Cadillac sedan.

I've seen an old-ass buick (park next to a '60s model daily)

Never seen an old ass "A---a"

reminds me of a commercial: anybody (even honda's faux-luxury division) can make a new car.
What about when it gets to be an old car.

I new a guy back in '95 that drove an acc-, um "Legend," and it was already a POS

Cire: No "entry-level" Caddies! Bad idea. If they want something affordable at the stores, make 'em all Chevy/Cadillac or Cadillac/Pontiac dealers, but preserve the Caddy badge for REAL LUXURY CARS!

I think Cadillac is finally finding some focus. The 2008 CTS is a good starting point from which to drive the second stage of their revival.

Offering two uncompetitive sedans above the CTS was wasteful and did nothing to reestablish Cadillac in the luxury segment. Hopefully the new sedan will combine the roominess of the DTS with the rear wheel drive layout of the STS (along with some knockout styling via the Sixteen Concept). Throw in some performance engine/transmission combos along with some available fuel efficient technology (hybrid and/or diesel) and Cadillac may finally have a winner in this segment.

Cadillac needs an entry level sedan. However, the front wheel drive BLS was definitely not the correct product. If Cadillac can give an Alpha based rear wheel drive sedan some 2008 CTS DNA, then it should have a competitive product in this segment. Proper execution of this product would be especially crucial to the European luxury market to repair the image massacre caused by the front wheel drive BLS.

I think Cadillac should also seriously consider (if it hasn't already) expanding the model lines. For example, the CTS line should be expanded to include a coupe, convertible (or coupe-cabrio), and a wagon. This would make the brand more competitive on a global scale.

I think a smaller crossover is a good idea, as long as it is properly differentiated from any lower platform mates. I also think the SRX crossover should continue in the lineup; it needs a serious redesign so that it looks less like a bloated, extended station wagon. A redesigned SRX would be more crucial to the lineup in the U.S. than it would be elsewhere.

I think a less expensive hardtop roadster would be a nice addition to the lineup. I am not sure if the Kappa platform could be made upscale enough to handle a Cadillac product, though. The XLR could be retained to serve as the brand's halo product.

I would like to see the truck based Escalade products disappear. If people want luxury truck products, then GMC can offer them with their Denali trim levels. I know at one time these products probably saved Cadillac from extinction, but they look ridiculous in a post cheap gas world.

"I will say that Cadillac should capitalize on their SUV's and try and get some fuel efficiency throughout the lineup and keep on trucking" - that is the most contradictory statement ever. You basic said to focus on SUVs while increasing fuel-efficiency. LOL!

And the Catera is actually a good example of how far GM has come from the original Catera (a POS) to the last gen CTS which was a success to the 2008 CTS aka "my next car"

Caddy trucks do not interest me, why make a truck youre afraid to bang up.
lexus has the elderly croud now, and caddy is marketing the cts to 30 year olds like me, the dts and sts need to be killed for a slightly larger sporty comfortable sedan priced rite below bmw and mb.

Don't forget.. the only reason Cadillac went to full alphanumerics was that they didn't want to retain their elderly audience with a CateraCTS! And as far as segmenting the market, after the male-biased STD sports sedan it would only be right to offer a companion soccer-mom-friendly HPV sport-utility!

Havent we discussed this before? I thought it meant Cimmaron Touring sedan. Either way it sucks bc you know why. I will say that Cadillac should capitalize on their SUV's and try and get some fuel efficiency throughout the lineup and keep on trucking

* sorry two mistakes bring buick back to were it belongs
and would weaken the whole brand.

Also, maybe even AWD as an option.

They should build a top notch 28,000-32,000$ dollar car, built it to top notch specs like the new cts, make it rwd, give it good strong motors, but make it a Buick. Bring buick make were it belongs, just below Cadallic. An Cadallic at that price is just to cheap, (but still out of my price range). A new cheaper model would weaken the who brand.

Ha! HA! STD! Well for the big Cadillac sedan lovers, it was nice to pick between FWD DTS & RWD STS. The STS is the better looking one for the guy with taste, but now that the new CTS looks a lot like the STS & is RWD anyway, I suppose it's time to bring it down to one big Caddy sedan. But bring no BS "BLS."

Ill never give up my Cadillac OOPs Cadilac is giving up on themselves lol
A car slotted UNDER the CTS ?? Thats makes sense It makes as much sense as the Catera.
Since they seem to know how to make SUV's (that get recalled) they should redesign the SRX smooth like they did with the CTS. Hurry up and make the BRX small SUV for all the posers who want an Equinox in a Cadillac tux.

All to Livery companies. Who wants to drive a cab?

this would work fine but only if they come out with a new high-end sedan. This would however be the last step in alienating all of Cadillac's traditional customers.
