General Motors has realigned its Cadillac brand in recent years to better compete with the European luxury marques but, despite that push, has never really focused on the European market itself. However, that looks to be changing as Cadillac is planning a right-hand driver version of its CTS-V for the UK market.
As it stands, the CTS-V is only offered as a left-hand drive vehicle, leaving the Brits on the wrong side of the passenger compartment. However, Cadillac says it is committed to extending its reach in the European market, and will therefore eventually offer the CTS-V as a right-hand drive model.
“We’re geared up for right-hand drive now,†General Motors marketing chief Joel Ewanick told Autocar. “We’re working on it.â€
However, it might be a few years before the UK gets a right-hand drive CTS-V. Ewanick added there is “no rush†to get the models to market and that they would be offered as a part of normal lifecycle changes.
Although Ewanick didn’t confirm, it’s possible Cadillac’s upcoming ATS could be offered with right-hand drive. The ATS is an important vehicle for the Cadillac brand as it will compete with segment heavyweights like the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
