Cadillac tops Lexus in satisfaction survey

05/31/2006, 10:00 AM

By admin

Cadillac has trumped Lexus as the highest regarded luxury brand, according to a owner satisfaction study by research firm AutoPacific. Last year, Lexus narrowly beat Cadillac for the number one spot. Cadillac had the top rated entry Luxury Car with its CTS and solid performances by the rest of its lineup, the firm said. The top rated Mainstream Brand is Honda. The Honda Ridgeline and Odyssey also got top honors in their respective categories.

In rating major segments, Sport Utility Vehicle owners rate their vehicles more satisfying than do Car, Pickup or Minivan owners. This finding goes contrary to popular myth that SUVs are fading in popularity and SUV owners are dissatisfied with their vehicles.

AutoPacific previously announced individual vehicle winners. The vehicle registering highest overall satisfaction in 2006 is the Lincoln Navigator Luxury SUV winning top vehicle, top truck and top Luxury SUV honors. The highest rated car is the new-for-2006 Hyundai flagship — Hyundai Azera.

AutoPacific’s VSA establishes numerical satisfaction ratings for virtually every car and light truck in the United States. Owner satisfaction is calculated across 45 specific areas related to a vehicle’s operation, comfort, safety and the overall purchase/lease experience.

Thats because the people that bought them have to justify their purchases somehow. I don’t believe that Cadillacs are better than Lexuses or Mercedes-Benzs yet. I want Cadillacs to be the best, but only when they deserve to be.

I think the new Cadillacs are at least on par with mercedes. But I think Mercedes is the worst of the luxury brands, nothing in their cars seems right to me. And the R class is hideous. Makes the SRX look beautiful. Lexus is being caught by Caddy, the interiors are getting better. STS has probably the best interior GM has ever made, and no doubt that is being improved upon as we speak.

I don’t think it’s a matter of justifying the purchase, I’m sure that a great deal of Cadillac owners are very satisfied with their decisions. The new Caddys are not bad cars.

Mike, Cadillacs are getting better, but saying they are as good as the best is doing GM a disservice. They need to get even better so that import lovers that hate GM actually want to buy them. GM has been building crap product for decades and the american public hasn’t helped by buying that product. Constructive criticism of GM will make it better and if the product doesn’t improve then GM doesn’t desrve to survive.

Check out how the tailpipes hang down on all Lexus and Toyodaaaaaaa. Read someplace Hondaaaaa was slashing Ridgeline prices just to move them! What an ugly contraption!

Good for Cadillac!! GM has actually paid attention to this one brand under its umbrella and has turned Cadillac around. Now if it can only do so for the rest of its brands (Saturn seems to be on its way however slow to get to the market products (new Astra based small car) and low volumes may not help it) The CTS is a nice car and the sneek peeks Lutz gave us on 60 minutes shows me more good things are to come.

Why do some import car boot lickers find it so hard to believe (and so difficult to accept) that an AMERICAN car can rate this high, especially above a Toyota nameplate? Oh the horror, the horror. Face it, while you were all busy gathering the nails for GMs coffin, GM arose from the dead to come back and haunt you. And this is only going to continue, so get used to it.

I think Cadillac has improved in leaps and bounds in a very short time and that is very commendable. However, anyone who thinks that an STS is on the same level as a Lexus LS430 is wearing blinders. The LS430 trumps the STS in two areas that count the most in that market segment: build quality and reliability. That’s not to say the STS is a bad car, on the contrary, I’m willing to bet that it’s more reliable (as in less unscheduled dealer visits) than any of the German competition. I think Caddilac deserves something for the huge improvements they’ve made. Lincoln, unfortunately, has fallen so far behind that it’s just plain sad. The LS had so much potential but Ford decided not to improve it much over the course of production and is now a relic compared to similarly priced sedans.

It usually starts with one survey. Didn’t Lexus’ reputaion start with “one survey”? Cadillac has been receiving praise from a number of sources, so this is no fluke. Their product line has steadily improved and become more competitive, and the next generation of new Cadillacs will continue this.

As far as the” jewmobile” and “kike” comments, maybe you asswipes should log onto nazi****heels.com. Or get a job with Jessie “Hymietown” Jackson.

I think the issue is that many people just can not find any reason to want an American car. I do not find the body of any GM/Ford/Chrysler car to be appealing nor do I find their interiors to be of the quality I get with VW/Audi/Acura/BMW/MB etc(just to name a few of the car manufacturers I do like)

Its not just about performance, or just about exterior looks or just about the interior or ride or even reliability. Its a total package thing. I will admit that some German cars have more issues or may require more maintenance, but thats fine with me because I get to drive what I want to drive as long as it doesn’t just fall apart.

That being said I think its a good that Cadillac is improving in reliability. I am not a huge fan of the exterior design of Lexus and I absolutely hate the design of Cadillacs, but maybe I am just not the intended market.

Every single time a news post somehow related to Lexus is posted someone always says something similar to “Lexus is only a high priced Camry” now it’s obvious to me that those have never ever even been close to a Lexus. I have driven both and I can honestly tell you there is a WORLD of difference and I’m not saying that Camry is bad in anyway. Lexus makes freaking awesome luxury cars, period. If they are better or worse than Benzes or a Cadillac is however, open to debate.

And before anyone gets smart, I, and no one in my family owns a Toyota or Lexus, hell we only have European cars (two BMW’s and a Benz).
