Whats with all these," oooooo chevy is just trying to out do the challenger, the mustang, and GTO." Listen the 69 camaro is to date the sexiest car ever manufactured for the general public, and is'nt the general idea to try and "Out do" the competition. This car is an original and that is truly what the public whants...yeah the 69 Camaro was awsome and Dodge and Ford both attempted to go back in time with thier designs for the Mustang and GTO and they will be very succesful, But the don't have anything close to being as origanal and beautiful as this concept camaro created by the greatest vehicle manufacture in america, CHEVROLET. I love the car and every thing it offers it would be nice if a T-Top option were avalible when the car is avaliable for purchase. - Brian Beard

Ted im surre you babied your SS and never ran it hard or miss treated it, like most european car owners that youd swear you just seen them change their cars diaper. These cars usualy take a beatin and keep going.

As far as the retro look the Camaro is the least retro looking of the bunch espcialy when they redoo that interior. They could just as easyly come up with this design in 03 and some would not have even considered it retro.

Gm had the idea for a Camaro type car even before the first mustangs hit the show rooms in the 60's, but they deceided to scrap it. Then they saw the result ford had with the mustang and resurected the project. The first generation f-bodies ran for 3 1/2 years before a total redesign. Subsequent redesigns could go more than 10 years before a complete overhaul. Yet those first gen Camaros are some of the most saught after and valuable cars of that 60's 70's era. So what if this new model only last the same if history can be a guide the shorter the better.

I totally agree with Jay. People should move on with cutting edge technology, not on the past.
Because designers aren't and can't make good looking products, they rely on designers that actually did make a good pioneering design.
The designers of today should be making designs that will be remembered into tomorrow.
I don't like Camaro concept. I loved the Camaros from 2000, and the old Camaros, but not this one.

Peter G "the European vision", the most popular cars in Europe are diesel powered hatchbacks, you can keep your vision. Oh and BTW, Canada is to the US what Austria is to Germany. So ...yeah. As far as retro goes, stores are filled with art deco furniture that looks like it should have Humphrey Bogart sitting on it. New houses are being built that look like plantations and I’ve seen women’s magazines that have cover models that are dressed like Marilyn Monroe and Joan clever. People are disillusioned with what passes for modern design and style and are looking back to the past.

back in 1998/99 they had this car with the GTO concept. The concept was very well received. As a result of the good press, GM imports the monaro and axes the f-bodies.

my god has GM dropped the ball on this one.

i dont think this is going to be as big a deal as GM hopes...everyone expected then to greenlight it. Now, if they really wanted to get some attention they say that they decided they wouldnt produce it...people would go nuts! then after a few weeks GM can say, "after listening to our customers we decided to greenlight the camaro!" and everyone will be happy and GM gets some attention.

Canadians still like mullets, yes? If so, I could see how they would be proud to produce the "Ultimullet" vehicle in Canadia.

People should move on, instead of making retro cars of yesterday, pave the way to make it so that people will want to make retro cars of today tomorrow.
Make cutting edge products, at a good cost for both consumer and producer, exciting, put your consumer first, and good quality.
So that our children will remember these cars and there will be retro cars of today. And by doing this in the mean time you will make many fans and loyal customers, who will want to come back for their next vehicle. And you will pave the way for people to remember this as a great time for the automobile. But as of now how the automakers are doing, I don't see it

They shouldn't be celebrating... yet... GM is not out of the ditch yet.
When the new Mustang is redesigned, the pony car craze will be over. The Challenger and Camaro will be left in the dust.
Don't get me wrong, retro isn't always bad. But people need to move on.
Talking about retro, I was wondering if there will ever be retro cars of this generation, and I don't see it happening.
The Pt Cruiser and Prowler (love the Prowler!) are retro cars from an era when the automobile was being pioneered and refined.
The Camaro, Challenger and Mustang are retro cars from an era when the automobile was being refined and really created as a staple in Americans lives.
The retro cars of tomorrow copying today (if there are any, which I doubt) will be copying an era when the automobile fell into a depression, and the cost is more important than the consumer.

Anyways when these new pony cars come out the retro craze will be over and they will be left in the dust by the new Mustang and other sports cars that are willing to move on with cutting edge design and quality, and right now I don't see GM (or DCX) doing that. Don't celebrate yet, your not totally out of the ditch.
