Comments on: Camaro may come sooner than expected

As one of the “older” guys mentioned above, I am extremely eager to buy a new camaro. I previously owned a 68 model and have kicked myself ever since for letting it go. Now that I’m older and don’t have to get my kids in and out of the back seats, I’m ready to just get one and just, cruise.

I personally want the top model with all the bells and whistles, and can pay for it… BUT, I also will wait out the hype, and wait for the convertible model to arrive… Probably second year production (2010)

If GM does place a v-6 in the Camaro (which is inevitable) It should at least be the 3.9L that is currently available in the Impalas. Also, they will probably have the entry level v-8 models equipped with the 4.5L Northstar v-8 (300 HP). already in production. In addition, GM will probably Have limited production on the larger v-8 (6.0L) or Z06 until the relase of the z-28 or ss models.

Please GM… be smart, NO 4 CYLINDER MODELS!!!

Save that for the cobalt…lol.

I believe the pricing will be about 22K for the v-6, and about 28K for the base v-8. The Larger v-8s and the ss models will at least be 33K to 36K. If they are selling the GTO for 33-34K now, the camaros top model will be more than that… even at MSRP.

Just my take on it…

best believe since there is a lot of hype, gm will try to overprice it just like their trucks. I think you’d be lucky to get a v6 one for less than 25k

I am very eagerly waiting for the concept camaro for its release date. I have already planned to buy one as soon as it is released. G.M should not drag its production to make it a success & face others like challenger even before they hit the road.

I have 2000 SS and I wouldn’t think twice about trading it for that ‘09. The Camaro won’t be in production until late ‘08 because of the ‘69 camaro. So they can Signify 30 years. At least thats my take on what they are doing. GM make sure, NO MAKE DAMN SURE IT HAS THAT KICK ASS LS7.

Ok whoever said this thing looks nothing like a camaro should examine the 60s…thats the best damn thing about this kick ass ride….67-69 look on the outside…none of the crap on the niside…at least in the concept…the whole reason i bought my 99 SS is because I couldn’t bring myself to go all prehistoric (car wise) with the interior and drivetrain…more the interior (since the drivetrain kicked ass)…..

Hands down, I will be trading my beloved Super Sport for the new ones WHEN they come out….Chevy passes over this concept, I won’t buy from em anymore, because obviously they can’t tell their head from their asses.

The car is hot! GM needs to get this car out and fast before the challenger or I fear that the older consumer will want to relive there youth with a morpor and not this very hot chey. Lets go GM don’t drag you feet on this one.

I think that the new camaro looks nothing like a camaro and that they should not make it. It will probably cost about 30,000 any way. I think that it is stupid that they are building this camaro.

To get out ahead of the Challenger, GM needs to out this vehicle into production for a debut in Fall of 06′ or Spring of 07′. I have already started saving money to but one and am very impressed by the hot design and great gas mileage. Just as much as a Malibu maxx. It would be another vehicle by Chevrolet w/ 30 miles per gallon or more. Basically what I am saying is to put it in production so it could be in my driveway !!!!!

As long as it is not overpriced, has decent manual & automatic transmission choices (i.e. 6 & 5 speed respectively), doesn’t wind up with a cheaped out interior, all models have decent powerplants (i.e. no cheap-sounding, vibrating small engines), and offers at least reasonable practicality for a coupe (i.e. how about fold-down rear seats and decent trunk space), it should be a hit. Basically, if GM doesn’t repeat any of their past mistakes with the GTO, recently discontinued Camaro/Firebord, HHR and Gran Prix. It would be awesome if the six offered on this car (if there’s going to be one) was that 250hp Honda sourced engine they use in the Saturn Vue.

There is no zeta lite, its just zeta. and i think the troubles with the CAW have been resolved otherwise chevy wouldnt be using the camaro name. Theres no way you could sell a v8 camaro with the LS7 (z06 engine) for 28k, those engines are mostly hand assembled, if for some reason they did decide to drop those in it would be a very limited run, the top of the line model will probably just get a supped up version of the LS2 to top the upcoming boss mustangs

This car looks sweet, hopefully it does go into production soon, latest end of 2007. Many of the young people will definatley be into the sleek design. I’m sure at anywhere from 20-30k’s would be affordable.

Pontiac already has the GTO, which if I remember correctly, is slated to be based off of the Zeta Lite platform for the overhaul. What GM could do with Pontiac, is offer a midsize RWD car, with the top model being the GTO.

they need this car to save their asses, ponitac should follow suit with the firebird version…start it at 18 with the v6, 24 with the v8 and 28 with the zo6 engine and they would sell em faster than they could make them.

My biggest concern with the new Camaro is the price point. A lot of people who are interested in the Camaro are mainly younger buyers and if this isn’t priced right, the only people buying it will be older folks trying to recapture their youth, a la SSR.

If GM were smart, they would offer customization options, much like Scion.

GM has a contract with UAW that states that any car called a “camaro” must be built in the canada plant where the other camaros were built. the big problem is GM knocked down that factory several years ago so that means no camaro till after 2007 because that is when the UAW contracts run out
