This entire article is stupid. This is just creating anti domesic propaghanda, and I don’t see anywhere in the article where it actually compares Toyota’s numbers to Ford’s, it just makes unsubstantiated claims. Has Toyota actually sold more Camry’s year to date than Ford F-Series? Nope, not even close.

tripleonefive, if you actually test drive Camry, you’ll know it is not a good handling car. It’s screwed OK, but handling is sloppy and always was sub par to Accord.
Well Autonut I like Honda and think that the Accord should and will be # 1 beating out the Camry. I have no argument when it comes to Toyota vs honda bc they are dead even with reliability resale and build quality
I do know that the Malibu is not on the Camry and Accords level. I think the Hyundai Sonata and Mazda 6 will give the Camry and Accord a run for their money

tripleonefive- Has nothing to do with that being a domestic lover. I actually kind of like the new Camry’s styling, it’s something different, but looks bloated. I’m not even gonna bother getting into an argument, and neither should anybody else with you because of your ignorance, but I’ve just read a few reviews that have put the Malibu and Accord at the top, and the Camry and Sebring near/at the bottom.

02wrx- Nobody, NOBODY here has mentioned that the F-150 is the best truck because it sells. If you want to put words in peoples mouths, do it somewhere else.

WEKS- Not saying their material isn’t accurate, but reading their policy it isn’t directly based off of third party reviews. And despite them saying that the Malibu’s platform mates have been extremely reliable, and citing sources that all quote the Malibu as being very reliable they come to the conclusion that the Malibu is indeed not reliable.

bottom line…camrys are boring, passionless, lackluster cars that have no driving thrill whatsoever. i would think that anyone on this site bitching, commenting or just plain bashing other cars would have a slight passion for the industry, yet some of you i see are supporting the unimaginative jap jobs. out of most of the car companies out there, it is my opinion that toybota are the first company out there to turn a profit before they turn heads with their automobiles. yes, profits are nice, but what’s the ****in point if you have no passion for the driving experience.

Toyota has been media driven for years as evidenced by the recent back off from Consumer Reports. That said numbers do count, retail numbers. Toyota has done a good job in marketing their products. Talk to any Toyota dealer about the Camry and they absolutely hate them, no mark up and they lose money on everyone they sell and then have to live with the issues. Watch the Malibu and the 2009 Taurus. Detroit does not allow things to get to far from reach and when preasured can and do dominate. Toyota is still a foreign owned company no matter where their plants are, thats the bottom line.

F150’s are junk trucks. the old ones were rugged workhorses, the new ones are just pussy trucks for men who are still in the closet. My old boss had a 2006 F150 which needed a new transmission, fuel pump, washer fluid pump, brake rotors replaced 3 times, faulty power locks, and new shocks. All before it hit 30k miles.

If I recall, few (maybe more then few) years back there was race between Camry and Taurus for the best selling vehicle? I think few years back Camry de-throned Taurus for best selling and then Taurus sold ****load to Hertz to get title back. It’s not the first for Camry.

Except for people on this blog how many Americans are aware of recalls in auto industry? People either brand loyal (often from generation to generation) or read Consumer Report. Up till last year Toyota was ranked #1 by CR, probably will be #2 next year. The truth of the matter is that Camry s much more American then Chevy Equinox with Chinese made engine and Japanese transmission. The field I think open for Accord (which is bigger and nicer then Camry), Altima (still looks great), Malibu (original Opel) because public loves Americana and Aura (Americana).

Like Johnny said: does everyone needs F-150 to ride to work alone and pick-up gallon of milk at supermarket 2 miles away?

Lol The Camry is synonymous with high quality & it looks fine, the design is nice inside and out. A toaster lol. If the Camry is a toaster it’s a reliable toaster and GM is one that you get home and it breaks in a week
It def looks better than the Malibu. I love how the Malibu uses an interior that Honda and Toyota and even Nissan used 13 years ago. The Bu is behind the curve and it is not converting import buyers

It is well known that the new Camry has less than stellar quailty. Like my nieghbors 2008 4 cylinder automatic that was just replaced under Lemon Law as the tranny can’t decide what gear it needs to be in. He was one of 6 or so at the dealership who are in arbitration over this minor “flaw.”

The Camry is an appliance ,like a toaster or coffee maker, nothing more, nothing less. No soul and bland as pablum.

Even the new Malibu at least has something to set it apart, not to mention it isn’t pug ugly like the Camry. I see the Toyo guys in a marketing meeting betting each other “I bet they’ll still buy these even after this next style change.” Mikie’ll buy it, he hates everything!!!!!!!!!!!1

People drive Toyota’s and Honda’s bc of the reliability and dependability of the car.
If you even drive a Toyota its bc you know that the domestics don’t have any serious contenders to the Camry/Corolla or Accord/Civic. If you didn’t care about what you drove you would be in a GM
Year after year the Camry has proven itself and so has the Accord. The resale is high on these cars bc they are so reliable. The Taurus was #1 bc Americans grew up on domestic cars That is why GM Ford and Chrysler could sell so much crap for so many years People were felt to be sellouts or traitors to America if they bought foreign Once they realized the Japanese made a better car The Accord and Camry reigned over the Taurus

Uhh…the F150 outsells the Silverado by a wide margin, no? like when the F150 sells 750,000, the SIlverado sells like 600,000, right?

Camry won’t sell more than 500,000 this year…Ford’s still got quite a way to fall. I reckon it’s inevitable, but it’s still a long way off.

All this really goes to prove is that the Internet has become the source people turn to when buying a new vehicle. So either the public have decided it’s easier to trust other people’s research, or they just really loathe the traditional dealer experience that much.

I’m kind of leaning towards the latter, though it’s kind of sad when consumers go to more stores to select a fridge than a vehicle.
