It has been discussed on this forum before… the perceived quality gap between North American vehicles and their counterparts. It is not the fault of the workers (well, in some cases anyway) but the cost cutting that has gone into the design and engineering of the vehicles.

Either way, Dalton is standing up for the economy of Ontario, and good on him for doing so. As for our friends to the South.. with this being an election year, perhaps you need to remember Bill Clinton’s old line; “It’s the economy, stupid!”

There ain’t a vehicle in Kia/Hyundai’s stable than can outlast the Crown Vic or absorb the abuse it takes. After a Vic finishes service as a squad car, its used as a taxi. There are service Crown Vics out there with 300,000+ miles on them. Just because something isn’t new tech, doesn’t mean it isn’t durable and reliable. Often times the older way of doing things is better in that regard. BOF will always be superior to unit body in terms of reliability and durability. Why do you think police continue to use it despite competition from the Impala, Intrepid and now Charger?

There ain’t a Hyundai vehicle that can run with the Charger on the track or dragstrip.

Autonut, Canada = terrorist haven? What have you been smoking. Canada is one of the most peaceful and friendly places on earth. I go fishing up there often and they’re always friendly and welcoming.

My kudos to Ontario for standing up to this. We should tax the bejesus out of Toyota, Honda, etc to give domestic manufactures an advantage. Its better for the economy. Ask Japan, they do it.

This is about being fair, not about quality of vehicles. Canada is recognized world wide for building quality vehicles, that’s why they build them here.

I also agree with jhnnycanuck about immigrants: Canada is heaven for terrorist and something needs to be done with that.

It’s kinda hard when we have literally no trade restrictions with most foreign imports, yet the tarriff rates at foreign countries is so high that it’s what discourages foreign customers from buying our products. How fair is that? I’m glad Ontario is stepping up on this.

Got nothing against Korean cars but go for it, Canada. North America has been taking it up the ass for a long time being on the receiving end of anything and everything other regions dump on us while prtotecting their home turfs. Gets a little annoying after a while.

Also, what you say about it being a national pastime to slag Americans probably held more water in the past than it does now. I’m afraid the good citizens of dear sweet Canada, land of tolerance and racial equality, are not so enamoured with each other as it may appear looking in.
