Car and Driver has published its “10Best” picks in its January 2006 issue. The report goes beyond the usual “car of the year” accolade and instead names the ten best cars overall, all the nominees, the ten best performers, and the ten worst performers. “Best Sport Sedan” goes to the Acura TL , “Best Sport Compact” to the Audi A3 2.0T, “Best Sports Luxury Sedan” to the BMW 3-series, “Best Performance Car” to the Chevrolet Corvette , “Best Full-Size Sedan” to the Chrysler 300 , “Best Muscle Car” to the Ford mustang, “Best Family Sedan” to the Honda Accord, “Best Roadster” to the Mazda MX-5, “Best Sports Coupe” to the Maxda RX-8,” and “Best Luxury Sports Car” to the Porsche Boxster . Notably, the best acceleration time went to the Corvette Z06, which can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the Porsche 911 Turbo S cabriolet has the “worst” (read: loudest) interior sound level of 82 dBA (is this a bad thing?).
