The CAW’s contract with the Big 3 isn’t up for about another five months, but the UAW’s Canadian counterpart has already reached a preliminary agreement with Ford, a new report finds. The tentative agreement is a three year deal that wouldn’t see any changes to base pay.
Unlike the UAW’s agreement with Ford, the CAW’s deal does not include a two-tier wage system and new hires will still have a benefits package, according to Automotive News. However, the CAW did agree to a three-year “grow in” wage and benefit structure that will see new hires start at 70 percent of current compensation levels.
Earlier this year, the CAW said that it would not accept a two-tier wage system, something the UAW agreed to during negotiations last fall.
The new agreement will also see Ford’s St. Thomas, Ontario assembly plant stay open until the new contract expires in September of 2011. The St. Thomas plant produces the Ford Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car and Mercury Grand Marquis.

I’m surprised to say the least. Is this a reflection on Ford’s renewed optimism or the did the CAW actually perform a reality check prior to negotiations?

They won’t accept a 2-tier wage system but will accept new recruits making 70% of the income. Well ain’t that some ****? Someone tell these assholes that “suckling the purple portobello” is the same as “nursing the pork sword,” which is the same as sucking someone’s ****.

Ford’s ugly old gas-guzzling Panther sedans surviving until 2011? So much for the emission cuttings. Most of these are sold as fleet vehicles, since their buyers have mostly died off or are too senile to drive.

Johnny, I disagree. It is expected of corporate management to be involved with some kind of perversion. Union folks are simpler minded and look on their leaders as bearers of some morals. Can you imagine corporate event without high priced hookers? And not all of them are women by birth.

autonut: union folks looking at their fearless leaders as bearers of morals? Maybe the very few who actually believe press clippings and sound bites. It has been my experience most of the brotherhood look upon their executive with as much disdain as they would a child molester.
And corporate events don’t need high priced hookers anymore. There are enough up and comers in any organization hell bent on f*cking their way to the top. Why pay for the cow when you can get the milk for free?
