Spyker CEO Victor Muller says that his company is still in the process of negotiating with General Motors over the sale of Swedish automaker Saab despite a report indicating the contrary.
Muller sent a text message to a Reuters reporter earlier today saying, “Still in talks with General Motors about Saab takeover. Swedish report that GM will not consider Spyker’s bid is ‘nonsense’”
A report from a Swedish news agency suggested that GM would no longer entertain Spyker ’s offer. GM has continued to remain mum on the situation.
“At this point, GM has no plans for any further announcements regarding Saab ,†GM spokesman Chris Preuss said. “If anything changes or if any new deal or actions arise, we would certainly communicate them, but right now there’s nothing to communicate.â€
GM has not initiated wind-down activities for the brand yet, despite announcing last week its plans to close Saab.
