Change of heart: Navistar not buying GM’s medium-duty truck business

The light-duty truck market is undoubtedly feeling the pressure of the current economic downturn in the U.S., and it looks as though the medium-duty truck market is feeling the same strain.

Due to these “significant marketplace and economic changes”, Navistar will not be buying General Motors’ medium-duty truck business. GM announced that Navistar was buying its medium-duty truck business late last year.

According to GM, Navistar and GM never inked a contract for the sale of the business, but rather had a memorandum of understanding. That memorandum has since expired, leaving GM to solely run its medium-duty truck unit.

Despite the setback, GM says it will “continue to review strategic options for the business, including continued discussions with Navistar.”

Rejected!!! It’s alright, GM. Just file for chapter 11 and get it done with. I hope 400crackers loses his job, and then he wont be “rich” [hahaha] with his 80k goal.

Those will be some vehicles I will be glad to see go back to commerical use only. Nothing says gross extravagant waste like a Chevy 4500 or 5500 truck with a pickup bed on the back.

These are actually pretty great trucks. I’d be glad to see them go to a reputable manufacturer like Peterbilt, Mack, etc.

The GM trucks are nice, but the Internationals have much better visibility, mirrors, maneuverability driving position, etc. I suppose it comes down to what your used to.

The GM trucks biggest advantage comared to International is the QUIET Duramax engines. That’s why nearly all repo guys drive GM chassis wreckers, so they can snatch cars up at night without being noticed.

I’m not sure that GM should even be considering selling off this lineup…it’s a good lineup.

I like these trucks too, the isuzu line is actually the nicest of the pack, the c5500 with the cat 3126 is a pretty nice ride too. When nissan come out with it’s medium duty line these trucks will suffer though.

Japs can’t make pickups worth a turd. If people really want to buy that junk then so be it. I’ll stick with my American iron thank you.

Jackoffs like Raineman tend to be just as wasteful as those he despises yet projects onto others to rationalize his guilt. Until you get rid of your own excesses, stuff a sock in your marxist pie hole.
