Actually building a convertible is a very complicated task. Reinforcing structure void of metal is not easy. If you don’t want convertible to rattle, shake and roll you have a lot of work ahead of you. Look at Mini: new model came out 2 years ago, but convertible is based on the old one still.

No, they are saying that they will begin production right in the middle of summer.
It takes a couple of months to fill the pipeline and get cars out to dealers. That puts a few cars into each dealer late summer. Convertibles typically launch around Christmas so that they can have a respectable number of vehicles in showrooms by the spring.
You and I can hope to get near a convertible Camaro during the Winter of 2010/11.
The sad part is that they have been working on this thing for two and a half years now and launch is still two years away.

I don’t think this is a big deal. Noone’s going to buy a convertible that comes to market in the middle of the winter time anyways. If it gets backed up a little… so what. Bring it to market in the summer and watch ‘em go like hotcakes.

I want to know what’s up with the LS and LT models? Why do they have to name ALL of their vehicle models after the truck line-up? Just call it the Camaro, Camaro RS, and Camaro SS. What’s so hard about that? Does everything have to start with an “L” because of Bob “L”utz?
