Coming soon to a police department near you: Chevrolet’s Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle - a modified version of the discontinued Pontiac G8 – will be delivered to agencies beginning next April.
GM will initially offer the Caprice PPV in detective format – as an unmarked patrol car – before the full marked police cruiser goes on sale in June. GM says that police departments can order detective PPVs beginning in October and that the police package – code 9C1 – can be ordered starting in January.
Both models will initially come with the automaker’s 6.0-liter, 355-horsepower V8, although fuel-miser departments can order V6 versions for the 2012 model year.
