The Cobalt coupe represents Chevrolet's entrant into the compact coupe segment. The successor to the Chevrolet Cavalier, the Cobalt was introduced in 2004 as a 2005 model and received its first interior update in 2007.

Despite being Chevrolet's compact car, the Cobalt offers an impressive list of standard features -- including XM satellite radio and head-curtain side-impact air bags.
For 2007, the Cobalt is available in four trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT and Sport. Of note, the SS supercharged model was suspended for the 2008 model year, but will return sometime later in 2008 -- as a turbocharged model -- with the same 260 horsepower engine found in the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line.
LS, 1LT and 2LT models come equipped with a 2.2L four-cylinder engine -- rated at 148 horsepower -- and return 24/33 mpg city/highway when equipped with a manual transmission.
The Sport model upgrades the Cobalt's standard engine to a 2.4L four-cylinder. Despite the boost in power -- up to 171 horsepower -- the Sport model still returns a very respectable 22/32 mpg city/highway with a manual transmission.
