Illustrated: 2011 Chevrolet Corvette C7

As reported over the weekend, an apparent Chevrolet Corvette concept car will appear in the forthcoming “Transformers 2″ movie. Based on the spy photos of the concept on the movie set, our artist has created an illustration of how the show car might influence the next-generation C7 Corvette.

Given the concept’s massive wheels, exaggerated exterior, and extremely low roofline, there’s almost no way the production C7 Corvette will look exactly like it. However, we don’t think GM has created this concept for no reason at all.

With that in mind, we’ve created a speculative illustration of the production C7 based on the concept. It has small LED headlights that create a similar effect to the hideaway lamps of yore, and the overall styling is a fusion of new and old design cues.

It’s too soon to know exactly what the C7 will look like, but we think many of the design cues seen here will make it to production.

Looks pretty interesting. It’s only an illustration by LLN but I’m very curious to see hot the C7 turns out.

I think you all are too focused on the car. What’s more important is there is a Transformers II coming.

Ok, so first they send us @$$ loads of info on the Camaro that isn’t even here yet. Now they’re starting to overwhelm us with the new Corvette?

Kinda looks like a Camaro in the area just ahead of the rear wheels. Maybe the wheel wells too. If GM were smart, they’d just keep it simple and build it on the same, but shrunken, platform as the Camaro, with a fiberglass body and about 1000lb lighter, and lower CG. Keep the same powertrains, but make the interior very upscale. Voila, new Corvette, still around $40k.

I could see myself driving this I suppose, but I don’t care for the way the windows go up under the roof panel. Of course I only like them with the glass roof panels so I’d have to see what that would look like. That black hole past the side reflector, does that really need to extend onto the door? Also lets move those side view mirrors up and have them come out at more of an angle. Tweak it up and have a proof on my desk by Friday :P

Lawnchair88, that’s the first thing I thought of too, the Cien! Excellent, what a sweet concept that was. Why can’t Cadillac bring any of it’s concepts like the Cien or the Sixteen to market? Does this grill looks too much like the Camero? I like the headlights, but close that mouth a bit, the gaping grill opening is a bit much, I think anyway.

If GM follows the Camaro thing we’ll be seen this car 24/7 three years from now .
As some said, hope the Illustrator is soooo off from the Vette’s future look.

Typical American cartoonish design. Here’s an idea…how about GM forgets that the Corvette is a Chevy. GM made great strides with CTS, now do the same thing with the C7. The C7 should truly be designed for the world market. Take it a little further upscale give it a small displacement high hp high reving v8 & no modern-retro styling. Can we finally get passed that already, the passed is the passed. How about classy totally modern styling. Here’s your chance because the auto industry seems to be ging through an ugly faze( Nissan Maxima, Acura, Honda. Too many others to list) Grow some balls and take the lead for once. You did it with the CTS………..do it again.
