Chevrolet announced a track-oriented Competition Sport package for its 1LT and Z06 Corvette models last week, and pricing for both cars hit the web on Tuesday. Adding just under $3,000 to the price tag of either model, the 1LT Competition Sport model will list from $55,655, with the Z06 version priced from $77,500.
Aimed at enthusiasts who use their Corvettes to the fullest on closed courses, the Competition Sport package includes the Z51 performance package, a performance exhaust system and a differential cooler to the 1LT and a handful of appearance upgrades to both models.
The Z51 package on standard Corvettes was already aimed at track enthusiasts, so the package is more about style than substance. To that end, each of the limited-edition Competition Sport Corvettes gets exterior stripes, unique wheels, dark headlamps and logos on the B-pillars, headrests and center armrest. A special engine cover and racing pedals round out the unique features.
Customers can install “racing style numbers” based on their Competition Sport’s build sequence to make their car just that little bit more unique.
Leftlane recently had a chance to sample the Z51 package, which is mechanically identical to 1LTs with the Competition Sport package.
