The Corvette is Chevrolet's -- perhaps' even GM's -- most widely recognized model. The sports car has been in production since 1953, with several variants along the way. Now in its sixth generation, the so-called C6 Corvette Coupe was launched as a 2005 model.

Updated for 2008 and beyond, the Corvette Coupe receives an all-new 6.2L LS3 V8. The bump in displacement -- up from 6.0L -- increases horsepower to 430 or 436 with an available sports exhaust. Peak torque is 424 pound-feet on the basic model and 428-pound feet with the improved exhaust.
Other engine features include high-flow cylinder heads, enhanced valvetrain, a high-flow intake manifold larger-bore block with structural enhancements.
Channeling that added power to the rear wheels is either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The manual features improved manual transmission shift effort for 2008. The automatic delivers quicker shift times and a 2.73 performance axle ratio.
GM says the updated model has an improved steering feel.
A new standard split-spoke cast aluminum wheel design comes with the Coupe. Also available is a polished forged aluminum wheel design. Interior trim enhancements have been made across the range, including a wrapped center trim plate with Cyber pattern and new, brushed aluminum accents.
A custom Leather-Wrapped Interior Package is available for all models in new Linen and Sienna colors. Two new premium exterior colors: Jetstream Blue Metallic Tintcoat and Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat are available.
A Keyless Access remote key fob with integrated key is also new for 2008. An iPod/MP3 jack is included on all sound systems except navigation (Personal Audio Link available as accessory for navigation system). OnStar and XM Satellite Radio are standard on all models. Auto-dimming mirrors with compass are also standard on all models.
Like Corvette Coupes of the past, the 2008 model comes with a removable roof panel (standard body-color or available transparent).
As with the Convertible model, a Z51 package is available that offers a laundry list of performance features, including an upgraded suspension.
