The Malibu wasnt steady throughout the years. It was in the 60 then the 80’s then discontinued and bought back in 1997 so that is the latest installments that I am referring to that If they had stayed steady throughout the years Mr Tranz I would agree with you but even then we would have to compare the resale and reliability record of the cars next to the Accord or Camry
The Malibu has numerous problems and AMG Off refuses to read the links I sent in the Buick and Opel threads bc he will have to admit that GM not only makes an unreliable car but a dangerous one at that
Untill he is willing to man up and admit that I have nothing to say
he realizes that if he does he cant talk any more GM is equal bull**** bc GM is clearly not equal

^^trantz… there is no logic when it comes to 1115… you better learn awfully quick that his opinion is the only standard by which things are judged… and that he is the ultimate decider of what’s good and bad… and that the only logic is that which he determines – even if it contradicts his own logic.

I beg of you… don’t even bother… he is ALWAYS right and he is NEVER wrong… and nothing he EVER says is mere OPINION, but stone cold fact. That’s just the way it is… you must bow before him and admit that you’re wrong and that he has somehow become the preeminent purveyor of all automotive knowledge.

(ie – he’s the poster child for why parents shouldn’t over-compliment their children… or not smother them, either way…)

Weren’t they making Malibu’s like in the 60’s? I may be wrong on this… But say Chevrolet did make a Malibu in the 60’s, and some were still around. Wouldn’t that make the Malibu more provener because is has been on the market longer? Not my logic, but sounds fair.

Right… because only consumers are left paying for inflation and high oil prices… I forgot manufacturers are exempt! Only on LLN would some of the readers consider $300 to be “gouging.”

Oh… and according (no pun intended) to the logic of one little retard… the new Accord isn’t “proven” yet because it hasn’t been on the market long enough…. just like 3 years isn’t long enough to gauge the reliability of a car.

not at all tzu13, I’m saying that due to certain factors, like inflation, rising fuel costs, etc, etc costs of things go up. That $300 alone isn’t just due to GM upgrading from a 4spd auto to a 6spd. It’s a combination of factors. I’m also not saying to be happy about paying more because who would be happy?

Honda jacked up the Accord’s price about $1,000 bc its a large car now and its reliable and proven unlike the Malibu
Honda Accord sales were UP 6.9% so I dont know what you are talking about and the 1.3 are buying chevys is not real bc the Accord sales arent down lol

400horseSS, last i checked the price difference between a base highlander and a hybrid highlander was about $6k. between a camry le and a camry hybrid, about $5k. i don’t see the $10k price gouge.

the difference between a base malibu and a malibu hybrid is about $4k. so the difference is a little less than the camry.

but then, the difference between a base tahoe and a tahoe hybrid is $15k. i could buy a cobalt with that. so who’s ****ing over who?

as for the malibu’s $300 price increase, i really have no problem with it. the 6-speed gearbox is a overdue, but the fact that it’s here now is worth $300. the only thing i would be concerned about is that this moves its base price even farther away from the camry’s base, and public perception of the camry is much better.

$300 is nothing. If you lease the ‘Bu for 4 years at a 40% residual value (end-lease), you’re looking at paying $160 more over the term. Divided by 48 months, it’s under $4 a month. Big ****ing deal.
