That's true JJT, a Denali would be enough for most smart shoppers and is the smarter choice. However, brands like BMW, Benz, and Cadillac get a lot of their customers because of the image one gets from driving a Caddy of BMW. In the phrase, "every man who had a dream, dreamed of owning a Cadillac", you CANNOT replace 'Cadillac' with 'GMC'. That phrase is outdated, and hardly true, but it illustrates that buying a luxury car is done for more than the luxuries it provides, It's about the image

God you are so stubborn and clueless 1115..I don't know if I should laugh or just be frustrated.

I explain the Saturn line up to you just a week ago and now you talk about Saturn as if we haven't had that argument before. Is it too hard to understand that it goes like this:

Sky originated HERE and was EXPORTED as the Opel GT and Daewoo GX2
Outlook originated HERE and has not be exported
Vue originated in KOREA and was IMPORTED as the Vue (also Antara, Captiva, and Winstorm)
Astra originated in EUROPE and was IMPORTED as the Saturn Astra
Aura and Malibu were designed here seperate from the Vectra

The point is, Saturn got only ONE (two at best) of its cars from Opel. Also, Saturn and Opel are in the same market (European, uplevel mainstream cars). GM (and everyone) wanted Opels in America so GM had two choices: Kill an entire brand (Saturn) and completely replace it with an entirely new brand (Opel) OR simply keep the Saturn brand and import Opel's as Saturns, an brand that was already established in America that people were familiar with. Also, NO ONE is trying to hide the fact that many Opels and Saturns are the same. Again, Saturns and Opels are IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE. Honda, on the other hand, tries to sell its Honda's at double the price as Acuras. They try to pass off Honda's as luxury cars while GM is simply imported their Euro cars and selling them here as Euro cars for the same prices. That is what makes the Saturn-Opel relationship OKAY and Acura a FAUX luxury division. Same tihing with the GTO and G8. Holden and Pontiac are IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE. GM is not selling Chevrolets as Cadillacs like Honda is doing with Acuras. They don't even have V8s!! How pathetic is that??

Do you agree or do I explain it more?

If you were my daddy you wouldn’t be able to raise me on a janitor’s salary!

Here is a direct quote from that MT article “Taking the BREAD & BUTTER Honda's platform to the NEXT LEVEL in terms of performance, style, and LUXURY amenities- How is that an insult?

There are studies that link mental retardation with janitors.

Perhaps, I am looser by opening this site Sunday morning and not waiting till Monday till I get to work :), but you boyz are fcukin insane to spend all Saturday arguing the obvious.
Even GM subservient LLN stated i4 Malibu is far cry from Accord for an extra $500. Perhaps mats will be more then 80 smackers from your neighborhood Honda dealer, but Ricardo would swipe set anyway. If 75% of customers would want i4 and Accord is a better car with i4, then there is one born every minute and there is good chance that he isn't driving Accord.

R-Head: I'm 1115's daddy (but not his father)

A---a is just as luxury as a bavarian, and a Cobalt -- nay, an aveo -- is just as exotic as an F430.

No wonder you're angry, you keep trying to convince yorself your accord isn't an accord.
But you won't convince me or motor trend

I don't care whether GM gets on top in sales. Long as the company sells enough vehicles to stick around when I need another one.

LOL @ Commo
Nice attempt but one Acura is a Honda in Europe as opposed to the GTO & G8, The entire Saturn lineup minus the Outlook(which is rebadged what 4 times?)

Acura is just as luxury as your Bavarian. Its better than Cadillac bc they have higher resales Check an 04 TL vs a CTS see which is more ? People don't consider the CTS next to its Japanese counterparts Maybe this current model will change that but It probably will take more than one model cycle

Keep holding on to your dreams of GM being on top again. Its cute in a Santa Claus sort of way

Headgiver: Please stop saying "fekkin". It makes you come across like more of a douche than you already are, which is a hard task to accomplish. Also, who are you to criticize the Accord? You can insult it all you want, but through and through, it's a great car. No matter WHAT you say, it's a great car, you can get it in coupe or sedan, you can get it with a strong engine and a 6 MT, leather, navigation, and have a sporty and luxurious midsize sedan, you can get a cheapo verseion with a I4 if that's what you're looking for, it drives well, it's sporty for its class, it's all around a great car. Stop coming up with retarded bullshit. AND STOP SAYING 'FEKKIN' YOU FUCKER!

The only thing that is the same between the Cobalt and the Malibu is the bowtie radio setup that is on virtually all GM models (it is, after all, the CORPORATE radio).

And yes the Malibu is faux-luxury because it's goal is to emulate a 40k car, but cost half. Acura's are also faux because they are up trim Hondas imported from Europe but are priced as if they were exclusive luxury cars like BMWs or Cadillac. Cadillac was like that at one point because it used rebadged cars from lower-divisions that were stuffed with luxury features. That was bad and fortunately Cadillac doesn't do it anymore. Take for example the Sigma platform which is EXCLUSIVE to Cadillac and its customers.

Lol, the Traverse doesn't exist yet - we are not even 100% sure it will be called that. This just shows your bias and hate for American products at its deepest level. YOU HATE AND ARE BASHING A CAR THAT IS NOT EVEN OUT YET!!! And your reason for bashing it? Because it's from GM. And your justification for bashing GM all the time? Because they made shit like the Cimarron TWENTY YEARS AGO. I am so glad that there are people on this forum smart enough to be fairminded and give ALL cars a chance instead of listening to your flawed (and twenty-year old) logic.

I lack the desire to be a janitor. You haven't figured out you are full of shit (and have to clean that shit up)
Wait for the Traverse and save yourself 10k since you are so frugal

Yeah, I'm buying a buick that is essentially a rebadged Saturn/GMC. What's your point? On it's own merits, the enclave is

R-Head: That Malibu without the emblem looks even MORE generic. I did see a lancer or something stripped of all insignia that looked cool.

cd5: the only erectionable cars are ferraris, in my opinion

1115: I don't think many people think being a janitor makes someone less of a human being. Janitors are not despicable, the world needs them. I don't hesitate to tell people that I worked as a janitor. But I don't want my kids doing it. No that it's not worthy work, but we all want something more for my kids. You, for some reason, think janitors are beneath you. Elitist piece of shit!

Fluffers, though, are generally despised, and you'll soon lose your job to a blue pill, and get your accord repossessed. then, you'll "drive" a 13-year-old Civic. You'll sit in it at the junkyard, and pretend you're going somewhere, and remember the times you almost got to swallow some of North Hollywood's best.

Vejida with yeast infection: a C-class is still a Benz, and a “TL” is still an accord. Are you that thick-headed?

Cd5: my uncle says he'd marry Courtney Love. A guy on a Nebraska radio station described her as “skanky hot.” I disagree with both. Jaime Pressley is skanky hot.

I never said that there was anything wrong with being a Janitor. If I was a fluffer you would be cleaning up the splooge after anyway janitor man. KNOW that its not trust worthy work

When you accuse a vehicle of "just being " another vehicle the general rule is the Vehicle you are comparing should be a cheap unreliable vehicle like lets say .. A Tempo ...A Cimmaron ..or a K Car

When you say “it’s just an Accord” or “it’s just a Pilot” you only look like an idiot bc the Accord and the Pilot are class leaders from a company that has a car with the highest resale value not to mention three of America's best sellers. The cars share the same platform but they have diff sheet metal, engines, and driving dynamics.

GM uses the same platform to make 4 versions of the same vehicle The Enclave you are buying on your janitors salary is just a Traverse. There is a 10k difference btw those vehicles and they aren’t proven reliable or dependable yet. At least this time they made the interiors different and designed them different but they all share the same platform and engine. The cosmetics are different. Those vehicles are the same and you are spending Buick $$$ on a Chevy They are all equally POS's

Ricardo-

Quit making such stupid assumptions. You're embarrassing yourself. Comparing this interior to the Cobalt's, I'm making a statement about this cheap-looking interior. I didn't say a thing about any other GM product-many of which have very decent or nice interiors. The new Malibu's interior was so hyped, GM leaked sketches and photos of it a long, long time ago-over a year ago-to get everyone excited about it.

Now, I'm not going to assume that you're as stupid as you probably are, so you've probably heard from different sources that this is GM's most important launch in years. Not only did they say this about the Tahoe, then the Silverado, but that's the same thing they said when they built that car in the late 1990's that resurrected the Malibu nameplate. That was the car that was going toe-to-toe with the Camry and Accord. Now GM uses it in the new Malibu ads as a car that should be ignored. As in, if you bought this car from us a few years ago, you were an idiot because it sucked. I think this car is good-looking (not great), perhaps a little better looking than even the Honda Accord sedan. But definitely not worth all hype.

As for my Accord coupe, I paid well below sticker. I could not be more pleased with the interior, and I have received nothing but compliments about it, inside and out. Getting laid has never been a problem for me. But thanks for your concern.

veda: image is a thing here, lots of people shopping for a s-class or 5er, etc etc might have never heard or probably understand why cloth seats are offered in the EU. (the reason is mostly that leather can crap out easily, so many prefer cloth) the US sees them as full-on luxury cars, I don't know how to put it for the EU though. it differs in every market.

Ray Sinclair's logic: "I once rented a Cobalt, therefore the new Malibu and all GMs are crap.

Ray, you drive an new Accrud with a cheaper-ass interior.
You likely paid full sticker or an add-on to do so.
You ar officially a fekkin retard who will never get laid again.

Commodore: Actually I don't think GM ever touted the Malibu as a luxury model but I could be mistaken. So in that sense the Malibu is never a faux-lux, it's just an econ box. Somehow I have to agree with 1115's above post in that people in US will consider german brands as luxury models but they have no idea the A6 and E Class are being used as taxis in Europe. I'll consider their models luxury if they are fully equipped with all the premium interior options available. Otherwise the interior quality of a C Class is just the same plastic bowl as the Accord.

True luxuries are Ferraris, Lambos, and all other REAL excess in the market.

Uh actually no She came from a generation of people who wouldnt buy a Japanese car bc its unamerican. Eventually when every American car broke down and was in the shop she realized that something had to change. When her neighbors Camry and Civic were running for 13 years with no problems she changed her mind.
You wish Acura and Lexus were Faux luxury. What makes your BMW or Cadillac or whatever you drive luxury ?
MHW hahaha You live with your grandma uuuh No. If your grandma was attractive I might live with her.
JJT Tripleone Fluffer? Epithet Keep using that
This Car will fill up Alamo and Enterprise

For all the hype coming from GM about this car, I'm disappointed. I had a Cheap-ass Cobalt for a rental car recently and that interior looks a lot like the new Malibu's. Sorry guys. The car looks a little bit better than the previous one (looks a lot like an Acura TL to me), but it's not worthy of all the press it's getting.

In order of appearances...

1115: Of course your grandma wouldn't buy this. She is part of a dying generation of people who are loyal to Toyota and insist on buying imports rather than considering ALL cars including domestics instead of stereotyping domestics based on bad cars they made 20 years AGO.

Ricardo: Lol, you have too much time on your hands. And you are right, it does look better...except..for..the..skulls.

Veda: It's funny you mention faux-luxury because this Malibu is indeed faux-luxury just like brands like Lexus and Acura. The only difference is this car knows it is faux-luxury so it isn't asking for a price as if it was a true luxury car.

Ok... what would an old janitor who can't afford a 50K car know about luxury anyway.... the guy never realized that the C class, 3 series, A4, and everything from GM except for the new CTS also fall under faux-lux dept.

j-dude: Boring is what this segment is all about.

tripleonefluffer: You probably wouldn't pick that stiff Tom Brady in fantasy football, either.
Go ahead and show your elitist ways, now, by using "janitor," as an epithet.

Personally, I think all the cars in this segment are boring... the Mada 6 probably is the best of the bunch, but it is a bit more expensive after all. Still, not a bad effort from the General.
