Wow, that is ugly. Even though the other offerings look a bit feminine, at least they aren't an eyesore like this.

My uncle just had another baby, so now he's a father of two... All until now he's driven Maxzda RX7's MX6's etc... Well his wife drives a RX330, and when it was time for him to move in a bigger vehicle, it came down between a Oddyssey and a Mazda 5, because he didn't want to be a soccer dad, he thought he'd get the Mazda 5, haha... Anyways it's a nice vehicle, but it doesn't have as much cargo space as a full size minivan would, so when they have to two babies and a couple people, the strollers don't fit in it and he had to buy a car-top carrier...

But these smaller mini-vans are better on gas then the larger mini-vans.

If all the minivans out there didn't scream "Mommy Mobile" people would actually buy them for utilitarian purposes. Admittedly they're not bad vehicles if you need to move many people or bulky cargo on a daily basis... they all look just a bit too feminine for my tastes.

Don't knock the Uplander and its clones too much. At the end of its cycle- which apparently is taking longer than trying to kill yourself with a paper cut- they are all but giving them away. For those who really need to move people on a budget they're excellent value.

"GM brand to get a version of the Opel-based MPV," Yeah I thought the same gitcypher, but Chevy will give it another name when it comes state-side... I really thought GM finally got a clue with the mini-vans, and seeing how the last of the Lambda based minivans fiasco turned out... Although i've seen pictures of the Opel version and it seems to be a pretty strong contender to the Ford S-Max over in Europe so maybe it'll contend with the Caravan/Town & Country, Sienna, Oddyssey, Mazda 5 etc...

Plus, if it gets better mileage than a CUV, and can seat more I think there will be a demand for it...
