the #'s don't lie. I am talking about the '10 Equinox. If you have not driven one then take a strong look at one.

alls I know is they do not last longer then 48 hours on our lot and we have 2-3 consistantly either ordered or pre-sold.

I can understand why some do not like it and of course I wouldn't expect all to. That would be boring as heck if we all drove the same vehicles! Diversity is great and gives a person a greater appreciation for the vehicle they drive. I personally like the Rav4 more then the Equinox in some aspects, but overall, I feel the Equinox is the better vehicle (yes I am biased, imagine that!) The only two Toys I have ever liked though are the Rav4 and the Tacoma (which does blow away ALL mid-size trucks)

You may hate the 2010 Equinox, but there is a whole lot of love from many customers and most of the reviews I have read. And that is my whole point. There are enough people who DO like the 2010 Equinox that we can not keep them in stock!

Great. Another station wagon. Just add woodgrain trim. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Ok, I'll try to be a little fair. In its defense, the Orlando doesn't look too bad - assuming Chevy doesn't cheapen it down too much from concept form as shown in the promotional photos. As attractive as the Acadia looked, I found the Traverse to be fairly disappointing (weirdest taillight design I've ever seen on a vehicle with that much rear sheetmetal mass). I do find it a step up from the Equinox (and it's Peterbilt sized turning radius), which pretty much struck me as a Suzuki Grand Vitara in Chevy clothing - wow, threw up in my mouth a little there.

I just have this absurd love/hate relationship with Chevrolet. Tahoe/Avalanche - love it. Suburban (full-size land yacht overgrown station wagon version of the Tahoe) - yeah, love it. Equinox - barf. HHR - double barf. Malibu - love it. Aveo - horfhorfhorf! So, with the Orlando, I'll say promising - but there's still months ahead for GM to screw this one up.

By the way, I want some of the dope "bradleygt" is smoking. Equinox - "most desirable compact CUV"? Over the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4? Riiiiiiight.

This isn't meant to be a direct replacement for the HHR. They are discontinuing the HHR and wanted to add something different that wasn't so retro-based, with thoughts of a Mazda5 competitor. And this is what they came up with. Meant to go after the mini-minivan market of Europe that has really grown.

I guess I'm in the minority, but where I wouldn't give the HHR a second look, I will absolutely give this one a close once over when it hits dealers. I was disappointed when it originally looked like it wasn't coming over here. Equinox gew a lot (at least visually) in the 2nd Gen, and it was already on the large side to begin with. There is room for a CUV slotted below the Equinox in Chevy's lineup.

Seems to me like this would compete directly against Ford's Kuga when it gets here. If so, then for the first time in my life, I would look at Ford and GM's competing products in that category FIRST before I ever went to a Japanese dealer.

I *never*, ever thought I would say that in my lifetime.

What I would like to know is how anyone can see any HHR (or PT Cruiser for that matter) in this vehicle?

The only possibility, I guess, is the emblem and perhaps some of the chevy grill?

Do not know about the actual vehicle but the concept is sharp.

So this is basically a Cruze-based wagon with unfortunate HHR-like styling? I would have hoped with recent GM styling wins like the CTS coupe, CTS wagon and LaCrosse that a HHR replacement would at least look better than the outgoing model!

Wow, talk about some GM haters, honestly you can't compare the new GM products to the old ones. I personal thing that the mew products are far more superior to old and can compete easily with Toyota or Honda, five or six years ago I wouldn't have said that. Give them time to turn over their product line-up and you will see some very competitve products indeed. by the way I've owned a Camry, godd car but over rated.

cowboy country

Those 'other' brands, Buick, GMC, and Caddy all have different target markets. It's called market segmentation, reaching other potential audiences via various styles and packaging. Most customers looking at an Escalade would not look at a Tahoe, even though it is a similar vehicle.

Just like Toyota has its Scion and Lexus brands to target other customers who would not probably look at a Toyota otherwise. Honda has its Acura brands, Ford has Lincoln, Mercury, etc.

And from what I have read, it does not appear that any other GM brands will have a comparable vehicle to the Orlando.

And what current SUV's have not had a recent update? Equinox and Traverse are both brand new ('10 and '09 respectively) Tahoe, Avalanche, Suburban new in '07 and 'refreshed' in '09, and the new Orlando will replace the forementioned outdated HHR. Help me out buddy, what more do you expect? Full size SUV's typically have a 8-10 year shelf life because of the cost it takes into new model development. Don't expect a fully redone Tahoe/Suburban lineup till about 2014 or later probably.

idrinorbarsaku

I am biased, but not just because I have sold Chevy's since '04, but because of my own experience. I have had great luck with my Trailblazer and Silverado I owned and my family has bought several Chevy's also with NO issues at all since '04.

DID GM have quality issues before? Sure, what car maker has not had times when they did have PR problems (look at Toyota's current issues, doesn't mean they are a 'bad car' but don't make it out like GM is the only one with issues) ?!?! But if you look at current quality reports and unbiased reviews, then you can see that since the middle part of this decade GM has improved 110%!

Alls I am saying is that instead of some of YOU all being biased because of previous experience or media reports, make your own mind up by driving and doing research on current models, not because you had a '97 Silverado whose original Dex-Cool ate up their hoses! (not you in particular, but you get my point :) )

Have a great weekend everyone!

cognashene, you can not be serious!! The article said it will probably replace the HHR so why would you, in your infinite wisdom, think otherwise? "Pump out new models no one is buying" you say, if no one where buying them Chevy wouldnt be one of the top selling brands in the US. Again, brilliant comment. You say they already have half a dozen different SUVs out there suggesting they shouldnt have one in various segments to compete in the market....such as say...Toyota. It must be ok for Toyota but not Chevy, right? As for your last brilliant, well informed comment regarding making their products better, and not creating "new stuff", they have made their products better, in some cases they are better then all of their competition. THey are making some of the best products on the market right now, thats not me saying that, its the automotive press saying that. Oh, and making "new stuff" is how you expand in the market and get more sales and become more competitive. Good grief.

most you bloggers on here hate GM, but any new Ford product comes on here its praise after praise and they are our American automaker who deserves the least amount of it as they like to borrow or steal other automakers engineering and slap their name on it.

I never said it was pretty, but they sure do manage to sell themselves!
What's a joke is you comparing an escalade to a land cruiser! YOu might as well compared it to the tahoe/suburban...their pretty much identical! Looks like you don't even know what a Land Cruiser is!

idrinorbarsaku - what are you smoking? Highlander is the ugliest thing on 4 wheels and is based off the Camry, so is the Venza. Talk about minivan based... Boring with a side of extra yawning.

The 4-Runner and FJ is the only 2 SUVs Toyota has different than GM, and their sales aren't too stunning. The Land Cruiser is a joke, it doesn't sell (literally at all) and cost as much if not more than the Escalade, or if you want to go down $20k, the Buick Enclave.

Give me a break, bradley maybe a car salesman, but what you said was a joke.

Bradleygt...

Don't forget that not only do they have the: HHR, Orlando, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, & Suburban

But you also must include the..... Acadia, Terrain, Yukon, Enclave, Vue, Outlook, SRX [new and old], Escalade, & Torrent

Yes some of these models are outgoing but some of these suvs were never a success. GM makes wayyy to many suvs. they should be focusing on other things than just suvs. Yes some of these vehicles have been hits but even those hits are now dated and are due in for a major refreshing. the general needs to make less new suvs and focus on the already popular ones by giving them updates.

@bradleygt
That was great. I can't stand it ethier when prople say stuff that makes no sence like that.
GM as a whole has the best line- up across their 4 core brands if you ask me. That's just my opinion though.

bradleygt,
I expect nothing but Biased BS from a salesman!
I'm not a fan of toyota, but I know better and KNOW the highlander, fj cruiser, rav4, sequoia, LAND CRUISER, and especially the new 4runner trump anything GM has to offer. I will forever like the suburban because we had one, but all those others are pretty much minivans that drive higher off the ground and are fwd based...granted, the rav4 is too, but that's just ONE of them! And lets not forget, you aren't fooling anyone about the consumer reports, we know from experience that gm quality, reliability, and customer service is horrendous! Chevy has NOTHING that competes against the Land Cruiser, 4runner, or FJ Cruiser(which I hate, but I have seen what it's capable of doing).

cognashene

This will replace the HHR.

As far as us having 'to many SUV's" how is what Chevrolet has any worse then Toyota?

We'll have the:

1. Orlando (replacing the HHR)

2. Equinox (Probably the highest profit margin and most desirable Compact CUV out there now)

3. Traverse (another great and good selling CUV)

4. Tahoe (Best Full size SUV available)

5. Suburban (Highest rate of return buyers out there, I believe over 70% still)

Toyota has the:

Rav4, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander

That be 6 from them :)

And what we have we are making better

New Equinox, New Traverse (much better then the Trailblazer it replaced) new Orlando (replaced the now outdated HHR), Tahoe and Suburban improved with 6 speed tranny and cooled seats and better packaging.

Come by a Chevy store sometime before just believing everything you hear on the news or consumer reports.

A measly 150 hp? That's PT Cruiser territory. As for the 6-speed transmissions, a long-overdue development.

I don't understand; where does this car fit into the scheme of things? Will it replace the HHR? Probably not, it will just be something else in their line-up. These guys just continue to pump out models that no one is buying. Have they not learned anything? They already have at least half a dozen different SUV's out there under various names. Work on making what you have better, not constantly creating new stuff.

The Outlander has a 3rd row too. I wouldn't put Al Queda back there that's how bad it is - makes waterboarding look like a day at the lazy river.
