Many of you folks are truly clueless. Tha Lambda series of CUVs are selling so quickly that GM can't make enough of them. Buick Enclaves have less than a 15 days supply in the distribution channel. That's unheard of in the industry. All 3 of the Lambda current models are selling so well, that GM had to introduce the Chevy Traverse earlier than normal for the 2009 sales year.

GM's got a rock solid hit here. Get out of the way or get run over...

Brass, I know what I do to rental cars, and I'm sure other people do the same. However, I only rent when I leave Vegas, and I end up driving a ton when I do. Here, though, people rent the car at the airport, and then they drive up and down the Strip the whole time, which is packed with traffic during the hours that the tourists are out. Basically, what I would do in a rental is not something they can really do here. However, a lot of people smoke in them, and I'm sure people have sex in them plenty. It's Vegas, I wouldn't expect any less.

When I was in high school, I bought a '92 Ford Escort LX from a rental company. It had only 15,000 miles on it, and I purchased it for 1/2 the price they were selling new. I kept it for a few years, and it was the most reliable car I have driven so far. Weird. I have purchased new American cars and Japanese cars since then, and nothing has been as reliable as that previously rented vehicle was. It only went to the shop for regular maintenance and for a once-over when I sold it. That's it.

But one good experience doesn't mean they will always be the same. I prefer new, but it still depends on what I can afford.

The way I'm going to do it, though, is we are going to check out everything that my wife wants to check out, and then discuss if the price is worth the features and find out what we can afford and what we can go without. She doesn't want a minivan anymore, even though I actually like minivans (I know it makes me less manly to some people, but at least I'm man enough to admit it). But this will be her car, so I'm not making any decisions other than what kind of financing we will use. She has already tried a few so far, and she likes the Rav4 the best at the moment. We'll see how it goes. We're probably looking at making a purchase near the beginning of next year, unless there's a good reason for us to wait.

Well, cdsmith is right. Some people do still have family members and stuff to haul around. It's not you paying for their gas bill, so why bother nosing in on their buisiness? I do agree car companies need to be investing in more fuel efficient/alternative vehicles though. After I buy my Challenger R/T in the fall, I don't care what any of you buy.

How easily we forget what brand has the #1 cuv sales in america. The edge is crushing the competition not only by the #'s standpoint, but performance. Honda Nissan and toyota havent cam close in cuv sales. This is another desperate attempt by gmc to steal sales. Nice try though, as long as im selling Fords the truth will be spoken to my customers.+-

Beatus,
I'm positive you'll end up with another van. Nothing beats it for economical 7-8 passenger hauling! My father is getting 28 mpg on the highway in his Honda Odyssey with the cylinder deactivation feature. I'm getting about 24 mpg on the highway with my MPV which is considerably smaller.

Beatus - Nice reference to 'Revenge of the Nerds'. "We have bush!! We HAVE bush!!"
-
Dude, don't buy a used rental. Do you know how nearly everyone treats a rental car? Why would you purposely buy a problem? We just got out of our minivan lease (thank you, God) and drove everything. (Acadia, Pilot, Highlander, CX9, Murano, Outlook) We finished with a Subie Tribeca. Great car, my only bitch is the gas tank is 18 gallons. We have kids, so by the time the tank is low on road trips, everybody has to pee anyways.

way to go chevy(er, gm). once again needing the spotlight, this will surely steal major sales from saturn and gmc..... what the hell lutz, you JUST said a couple months ago that chevy has too many models...has old age caught up to you and you forgot?? and lets not forget that caddy is in the pipeline for an upgraded version of this in the near future. can you say goodbye buick? aside from overseas sales, buick is going nowhere fast. saturns cars arent selling at all, gmc has the stereotype as the gas guzzling dision, and pontiac gets bulldozed by the camaro. what a sad state of affairs in gm land....all that will be left is caddy and chevy.....and the number 4 automaker mantra that will go with it....

Now that front end treatment looks good on this because the vehicle is big enough to handle it, as opposed to the Malibu and early shots of the new Cobalt where it looks like they couldn't decide on one grill and left two on by mistake.

I kind of like the look of this thing. I'm in the market for a minivan replacement, and my wife likes the softness of GM SUVs. If this thing gets comparable mileage to what I get now, and it probably will, this would be something we would seriously consider as a family car replacement. With a 22 gallon tank, this would go far on a road trip, which we do plenty. This is a very heavy vehicle, though; nearly 2,000 lbs. heavier than our minivan, which is pretty heavy to begin with. Interesting that the engine is .1L larger than mine, and only 48 more horsepower than mine. That's not a good power to weight ratio, but as long as it gets on the freeway without fear of getting squished by semis, I'm good. The price is still a bit high, so a used rental may be how we purchase. Either way, we'll be test driving everything new that seats at least seven, and then weighing the options.

How many Lambda based vehicles does G.M. need? If there going to give Chevy one why not Saab & Pontiac too? G.M. should have made hybrid versions of this than the Tahoe/Yukon.

not all of us are members of NAMBLA living in our mom's basement. Some of us have people to haul and don't want to sell out our country to do so.
