Chevrolet showcases Camaro LT RS with GM add-ons at SEMA

11/04/2008, 8:46 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Chevrolet brought a lightly modified Camaro LT with the RS package to the SEMA show in Las Vegas today. Equipped with a handful of upgrades from the GM Accessories catalog, the Camaro LT RS shows us some of the dealer and factory add-ons future Camaro buyers can expect to see on the muscle car when it rolls into dealer showrooms in March.

A special body kit, “hockey-stick” black stickers, color-matched interior trim, short-through shifter and 21 inch alloy wheels made the yellow Camaro LT RS a little different than its standard brethren.

The body kit contains special front and rear spoilers and a unique exhaust diffuser-style applique. Inside, this particular Camaro pre-production model was swathed in gobs of yellow paint – a design that might turn off a few buyers. Fortunately, Chevrolet will offer the interior trim in any exterior color for those more interested in something a little less vibrant.

I wonder how big the tax bill will be to cover that? Since GM has no cash to spare and we, the people, collectively will be paying for this, I wonder what it will cost me in additional taxes. Granted, it is less then rescuing banks, but I really hate to pay for this DOA.

While I have, for the most part, ignored muscle cars such as this in the past, I have a great deal of interest and enthusiasm behind this vehicle. Principally because it really appears that General Motors has put for an incredible amount of effort and time to make this car the real deal! It would appear they have left nothing to chance and created a sports coupe that will truly live up to hype and expectation. I do not believe the next generation Mustang will meet or surpass the quality and style of this new Camaro.

wow… It’s soo funny how many people are calling this car DOA. The Camaro is going to obliterate both the Mustang and Challenger in terms of price, quality, and performance… Go and tell that to the thousands of people that have pre-ordered the Camaro and coincidentally 84% of Camaro pre-orders are the SS model, with yes you guessed it the V8.

And for the V6 powered LT w RS package this camaro is going to beat on the Challenger and Mustang V6 it won’t even be funny…

All the haters out there are going to be wrong, that’s all I have to say.

I don’t even think bumblebee would be happy knowing he died with a V6 in him.

Did GM forget to design a door panel for this car?

Need – The camaro has always out performed the mustang in the past, problem is no one buys them, thats why they get canceled!!

I’m sure this car will drive amazingly, but its all about what people buy that determines if the car stays around or not.
