Chevrolet has announced that it is going to add an additional window sticker to its new cars. It is called the EcoLogic label and aims to inform would-be buyers about each vehicle’s eco-friendly features.
The sticker is divided into three main parts. The first explains what fuel-saving technologies are packed into the car, and how customers can benefit from these features. The second part states how much of the vehicle can be recycled when it reaches the end of its life. Lastly, the third part talks about what was done to preserve the environment during the manufacturing and assembly process.
According to General Motors, every claim on the sticker was verified by an independent third-party sustainability agency called Two Tomorrows.
“Customers want companies to be honest and transparent about their environmental efforts and sustainability goals, and rightly so,” said General Motors North America President Mark Reuss. “Putting an Ecologic label on each Chevrolet is just one more way for us to share our environmental progress.”
The EcoLogic label will make its debut across the USA on the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic next March. It will be mounted on the rear driver-side window of the car.
The rest of the Chevrolet lineup is scheduled to adopt the label when the 2013 models hit showrooms at the end of this year.
