Chinese automakers have yet to crack the United States market, but China’s Geely Automobile and Chery Automobile will take another step towards that goal as they plan to display at the upcoming Detroit International Advanced Manufacturing Technology Show.
Although just a small step in China’s goal to sell cars here, more and more Chinese automakers are starting to take advantage of Michigan’s technological and manufacturing expertise. The move could help Chinese automakers pass U.S. crash and emissions standards, which has been their biggest stumbling point to date.
“We need to make more connections between American and Chinese companies so they can do business together,” said Eric Huang, the show’s organizer and chief executive.
The event will be held at Detroit’s Cobo Center, which is appropriately the same venue that hosts the North American International Auto Show. The show is scheduled to run from October 3-8.
