Now that Chrysler LLC is separate from DaimlerChrysler AG, the American automaker is looking to expand global presence. Chrysler is hoping that expanding its operations overseas and entering into partnerships with other automakers will help them reach the economies of scale that Chrysler could not reach in North America alone.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Chrysler has already staffed 150 engineers in India, primarily working on product development, and is very close to opening an office in Warsaw, Poland to handle procurement and engineering. The point of expanding operations into these areas is so that Chrysler can take advantage of the low-cost production opportunities and export products to other regions. Chrysler is already considering using some of the components it uses in its Chinese market, and Chinese-built, 300C for use in its Canadian-built, U.S. market 300Cs.
Chrysler is also in talks with foreign automakers Hyundai and Mitsubishi. While Chrysler has a history with both companies, the focus is on the opportunities a partnership with Hyundai would create. The deal would include Hyundai engines going into Chrysler vehicles in China and Chrysler engines going into Hyundai vehicles here in the States. Chrysler has already partnered with Chinese auto maker, Chery, to produce a Chery-made small car that will be sold in the U.S. under the Chrysler name-plate.

The final frontier for cars… China! With a booming population, no quality control what so ever, and crash test ratings that put Caveliers to shame!
I really wish they’d keep to their own markets, let alone making complete cars for America. I seldom see quality come from China, so what should be so different about their cars?

****ing IDIOTS. The Hyundai V6s should be used in Chrysler models here.
Current Chrysler V6s are gas hogs with dismal hp ratings for the displacement.

Yeah dude! Recently drove a rental Hyundai Azera with 3.8L V6. Surprised at how powerful and buttery smooth it was.

blah blah. They’ve been talkin about global expansion for years. When they merger with Benz, they were talkin about how that gives them an outlet to the Euro market.
If you can do it right, not sure you can, a partenrship with Hyundai will be great for the long-term.

I concur with Deanster…that has been a big problem for Chrysler for years now. Their engines are some of the thirstiest around, and something has got to be done to rectify this. I say, Diesel all the way!

Actually Hyundai paid Honda and Ford to have analysts come over and supercede motor production from 2003-2006
