Chrysler has unveiled the 2007 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 — a performance version of the Dodge Caliber that offers 260 lb. ft. of torque and 300 horsepower from a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine to reach 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds. Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group said: “The SRT-4 has been developed by Chrysler Group’s ‘Street Race Technology’ performance division. All SRT vehicles feature unique exterior details, lowered sports suspension, sports interior and a powerful engine – the all-new 2.4-litre turbocharged engine boasts a tyre-smoking 300 horsepower to deliver a level of power you’d expect from a V8!” The car will be on display this week at the Chicago Auto Show. Thank the powers that be for reviving the SRT-4. Now critics won’t be able to say eh..it’s still a Neon. With the Caliber SRT-4 being available, I wonder if DCX is going to get into WRC. They could use the Jeep name for the traditional “off-road” idea, or they could use Dodge, seeing as how many Europeans like WRC and Dodge is starting to be introduced in Europe. All speculation for now, but thank you DCX for bringing back the best American pocket-rocket you can buy!

i just realized something, dodge should build another compact car! this caliber thing is a good one but its just not that “compact”. its like a pontiac vibe. now DCX should build a car that competes against the cobalt. a true 2 door coupe compact, ya know what i mean.

wow…that has to be one of the most aesthetically unpleasing cars i’ve seen this year.
Its looks like a Magnum tried to mate with an evo, but instead got too drunk and shagged its own sister. This is the inbred child.
4-door wagon sports-type-crossover cars have ZERO appeal to people in my age group (18-25, i’m 20). I dont understand why they keep throwing these “factory tuners” at us. If I want something quick, i’ll save a little longer and just get a WRX or a stripped down Lan Evo RS.

Wait ’till ya grow up and start having kids, and all that goes with that. You will convert when you see how practical, and good looking you can stay with an auto. Kids change your life and make you look at things different than when you are 20. This is your future, and I guarentee you will be glad with a vehicle like this

Its try to go after the really ready cars like the evo MR and WRX sti and new in the game the Mazda speed 6 all with all wheel drive with 6 speeds and around 300hp now the new SRT-4 engine all aluminium block and cylinder head 2.4L turbo duel over head cam with (veritable valve timing) ß that’s new by the way. With pumps out 300hp at 260p/ft. of torque throw a 6speed manual gearbox and all wheel drive with satiability control I don’t know if that is going to have an on and off swath the compared to the neon srt-4 has all kinds of up grades ordered right from mopar or the dealer and have them installed right at the dealer I have seen them get up just over 500hp with a sh**t load of aftermarket parts and just hit the 10’s in the quarter mile how ever this is going to be a little different motor so we mite have to wait tell they redevelop some of the parts. But only has 5speed 240hp and font wheel drive don’t know torque numbers.

The caliber srt-4 will only be offered in FWD, it will be 300hp to the front wheels and 265 ft lb tourqe. 0-60 estimates by car and driver are at 5.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of under 14 seconds. I work for a dodge dealership and I have studied every aspect of this vehicle. For the money, and I REPEAT, FOR THE MONEY this car cannot be beat. To get a 300hp car that does 0-60 in the mid 5’s right out of the box, and not to mention you can throw alot of cargo in the car, like a surfboard or some lawn chairs and an umbrella, an ice chest and still take a couple of passangers, this car is bad ass. As far as the look of the car, with some simple body mods and a lowering kit, this car will look off the hook.
