The Aspen is Chrysler's full-size SUV offering based on the Dodge Durango. From some angles, the Aspen might look like a crossover, but it's actually a fully-fledged body-on-frame SUV.
The standard engine is a 4.7 liter PowerTech V8 producing 303 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine is also offered, featuring 335 horsepower and Chrysler's Multi-displacement System (MDS) that alternates between four- and eight-cylinder modes for improved fuel economy.
Chrysler Aspen's two-speed transfer case features an all-wheel-drive (AWD) mode and four-wheel-drive 'high' and 'low' modes. Both transfer cases feature a 48/52 torque split between front and rear axles when AWD mode is selected.
Chrysler Aspen's 'Tow/Haul' transmission is designed with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 6,700 lbs. and towing capacity of 8,950 lb in mind.
A flip-down, roof-mounted DVD screen is available for rear-seat occupants and a theater-style surround-sound audio system comes with eight Infinity speakers.
The truck delivers 68.4 cu. ft. of cargo room with the third-row seats folded. The Aspen is available with a second-row 40/20/40 split bench seat or second-row bucket seats, each providing 11-degree reclining seat backs.
Safety features include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), ParkSense, Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system and side-curtain air bags for all three rows.
