1952 MG TD Here's a question requiring your inside knowledge.

Which 2007 Wrangler, the 2 Door or the Unlimited, looks the least gay?

Where is the 2.8liter 4 cylinder common rail diesel? They are offering it in the overseas market but not the US. It would have given the consumer more choices than the still old tech v-6.

1952 MG TD: yeah, he had money troubles for some time so he couldn't afford to service it. It feels really weird when it's running on only 3 cylinders, like it's about to stall/turn off, then it suddenly picks up again, then it almost dies again. I forgot what he did with it...my guess is he sold it.

My 1990 XJ had a 145,000 miles on it when I flipped into a forrest at 55 mph. The engine was still idling happily upside down when i woke up from being knocked out. I turned it off and the junkyard that got the wreck afterwards sold the engine. As far as I know that engine is still on the road somewhere.

Hehe...everyone likes that engine. A friend of my fathers' didn't service his Cherokee in quite a while, and it was still moving the vehicle just fine - on 3 cylinders. Talk about sturdy! :-D

Agreed Renton: The basis for that 4 liter goes back to American Motors in the mid to late 1950's. I real diehard engine. I put 265,000 on my Cherokee. Other than tuneups only replaced the water pump.

Renton, I absolutely LOVE the 4.0 I6, and will miss it greatly.

the reasons it is canceled:
1) emmissions. this is a motor introduced in the early-mid 70's and developed as early a the mid-60's. you can only update it so much.
2) Tooling. The tooling and dies were pretty much completely shot and needed 100% replacement. Tolerances were reaching their upper limits...

The 3.8 should be a good engine, but I would like to see an engine designed for trucks and heavier duty applications.

I really hope they put the Bluetec 3.0 Ltr Diesel from Mercedes in this thing. It would perform brilliantly.

the Unlimited is ABSOLUTELY on my list of future vehicles. In a year or two I will be purchasing my 1st ever 'new' car, and this will most likely be what I purchase.

Great mileage, quality parts and drivetrain...
