Early look: Chrysler Town & Country Black Jack

10/26/2007, 9:09 AM

By Drew Johnson

Chrysler has released images of its Town & Country Black Jack ahead of the van’s SEMA show debut later this month. Inspired by the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, the minivan is painted black and sits on 20 inch chrome wheels. Although Chrysler failed to mention if any changes were made to the Town & Country’s powertrain, Brembo SRT brakes reside at all four corners to rein in the van’s bulk.

The interior draws heavily from the Luxor-inspiration and has the look of an “after hours lounge bar,” featuring a dual panoramic-style roof and a black jack table constructed of light-weight carbon fiber. The van’s third row seats were replaced with a leather-wrapped curved bench and the second row buckets were swapped for a dealer’s chair.

Azentec and KICKER took care of the minivan’s audio and video components, including two 10 inch sub woofers and a 37 inch LCD TV residing in the van’s tailgate.

Now this is something that doesn’t make sense to me. Giving a soccer mom an urban look?

Why do they let all the ghetto crackheads out when SEMA comes around?

All that it’s missing is an airbrushed nude on the side, with an airbrushed alien landscape. Yeah… and a wizard, too.

Why does the table need to be made of carbon fibre? To preserve the awesome acceleration and top speed of the Chrysler Town & Country? And if the table it made of carbon fibre why would it need bigger brakes?

Geez, to think so many people would complain about the Bullitt Mustang.

No matter how they dress this thing up, it’s still a big, ugly box. I know minivans are not supposed to be on the cutting edge of vehicle design, but Chrysler could have done so much better than this. It has zero appeal and throwback 80’s looks. Nothing they do to this monstrosity will make it appear cool or desirable.

I guess a pimped out version of the horrendous Sebring sedan is next. Lord help us all!

Chrysler asked their designers to come up with a great minivan for their dealers. I guessed they missed what they meant by “dealers”,

Bring back the 70’s. The airbrushed wizard on the side is a nice idea. Gotta have the superman side window and the wing on the roof

Exterior isn’t that bad. If I have to buy a minivan, it may as well look like this on the outside. +3 for the stripper pole inside though

I am sure it will be much cheaper then Odyssey and will outsell on price alone. Not.

Nowei-It’s looks, there isn’t anything wrong with it. I don’t understand why you have to make a large deal over them choosing a different material, then something more contemporary.

Rompx4- A big wing on the rear would remind me of the Ford SuperVan.

Mazdaman- I agree with you. It seems very 80’s esq., returning to the box design and flat headlights. I actually liked the last generations design somewhat, although the Odyssey and Sienna are MUCH better looking cars and look better fit and finish.
I haven’t seen one in person yet though, so I’ll wait to judge when I spot one.

I gotta say, I love the way this van looks though. Looks very sleek, the paint and low profile is what I’d expect an executive car to look like.

This is probably the funniest thread I’ve read this week…

Stretch the thing and put a bar in it! Soccer moms deserve a drink too! Alternatively, it would help Enterprise or National get into the Limo business for prom kids!

LOL at the “dealer” line! Chrysler may have something here with this whole Vegas theme.. because, unfortunately, the resale value of these things drops in spades, and their reliability is a gamble. :)
