I think the all government jobs in Utah have been doing this all year and they have saved a crap ton in energy, both from utilities and gas consumed by people commuting.

What a dream a 4 day work week would be. They tried to get 4, 10’s at my facility years back but the union wanted OT after 8 so it never flew.

The management drones here at Wentzville are turning the a/c off halfway trough the night shift on fridays, its hot as hell in Missouri in august, and Tugjob, thats conveyor monkeys who make 60-70k a year, and the only degree i got is deodorant.

I find I do some of my best drinking after a longer day. And going to work the next day with a bit of a hurt happening is actually pretty beneficial. No matter what dance is going on in your noggin there’s a combination of caffeine, over the counter drugs and codeine flavored cold medications that can dull the rhythm enough to get you through another long haul. Then about the time the whistle blows not only have you made it through another work day without spending 90% of it thinking about how much your job sucks, but you’ve also lost the gag reflex you had when you punched in.

The extra day off every week would just be icing on the cake.

No, not a bad idea at all. I wouldn’t doubt it that some of these guys work overtime anyways, and would help decrease the amount of overtime hours Chryser has to pay out as well, if their work system pays any out at all.

In other news, Chrysler remains the only Detroit automanufacturer with no brands ranked better than the industry average, in JD Power. Saab was the most improved brand this year, Mercury came second and Cadillac came third. So far, looking pretty well for (most) Detroit automanufacturers.

NOt a bad idea, but there is an exponential increase in fatigue with each hour of work after someone does 8 or 9 hours. Might wipe a lot of people out, especially if the job is monotonous (ie. conveyor monkey).

They’re better off making Friday a half-day (gone by noon) and tacking on one hour a day the rest of the day, or make Tuesdays and Wednesdays later days (extra 2 hours).

If anybody complained about Monday car before, now it will have a new meaning. Instead of 2 day hangover it will be trifecta!
