Chrysler’s Toluca, Mexico plant has just begun production of the Fiat 500, but company CEO Sergio Marchionne says another Fiat product could be added to the Mexican plant.

“We need to decide what we’re going to do with that plant,” Marchionne said. “The likelihood is that we will bring in an architecture that is more versatile and will give us an opportunity to produce more than one top hat.” Marchionne didn’t indicate which Fiat product is being considered for Toluca production.

Most Chrysler vehicles will eventually be based on Fiat platforms, but Chrysler executives are discussing the possibility of selling a second Fiat-badged model in the United States.

Alfa Romeo’s U.S. future is still a bit unclear at this point, but Joseph ChamaSrour, the president of Chrysler de Mexico SA, revealed that the iconic Italian brand will hit the Mexican market this summer. The brand will launch with three models in Mexico – the Mito, Giulietta and 159. Marchionne added that a production version of the 4C will eventually join Alfa Romeo’s Mexican lineup.

No word on where the Mexico-bound Alfa Romeo models will be produced.
