I think Toyota may have something to say about this. Great Wall’s cars are all copies of the Fiat Panda or various Toyotas—the ist (xA), Echo, Noah and in this case, the 1st-gen bB/xB. They plug in a new grille, lights and bumpers, some plastic trim, and install an archaic Mitsubishi or Toyota engine. That’s is the sum total of their product development. They really don’t have the money for much else. As for the trucks, which Chrysler is also rumored to be interested in, they are a mixture of 20-year-old Isuzu, Mazda and Toyota pickups with re-styled noses and 20-year-old engines with the addition of fuel-injection to replace the original carburetor. Chrysler may as well go back to building the old Mitsubishi compact pickup they started with.

I think this a good idea, importing technologies from other countries. Chrysler is far behind in terms of creating their own small cars. I think it would be safe to say that they really no longer have any “small” cars. The Caliber gets dismal fuel economy, the Patriot is a bit too traditional looking, albeit fairly nice…

Well no one can afford the “real Luis Vuiton and Coach bags due to the American, European and the GREEDian businessmen you see in every highrise building in downtown NYC (McCain’s core constituency)
There are other candidates besides Dem and GOP
Chrysler needs something and soon. I did see my first Challenger on the road and it was HOTT Much better looking than the Mustang Hopefully the new Mustang will be up to the task of taking on the cars from Chevy and Dodge

i think its a good move also. chrysler seems to be squeezing pennies to get the best results. in another time i would have argued that chrysler should just make theyre own platforms but with what theyve been though, and the current state of the economy…plus things are different and everyone is trying to reach a global market. come to think of it this is more what i had in mind back when mercedes was touting automotive global domination..

I think they’re making some great moves……use there strengths and over capacity to produce vehicles for other company’s……and instead of spending millions developing other new vehicles…..use other company’s strengths and over capacity to build those vehicles for them…..i think it’s briliant and i believe we’re going to see some incredible things coming out of Chrysler as a result of this new thinking.

And that is where I get lost, maybe to the absence of beer. Chrysler plans are to utilize capacity for building Alfa, Fiat, etc. They had a decent drawing of the small car. Why not produce it right here. The specimen pictured above resembles Chinese version of Luis Vuiton and Coach bags you see on every corner of NYC sold by Nigerian, Algerian, Cameroon “businessmen” (Obama’s core constituency). what good will this alliance do for Chrysler? They will be screwed again.
