foster1- They mention diesel in all of the Chrysler gas card commercials, I think. They make conversions still, and are about to come out with a new engine for Liberty, Wrangler possibly, GC.

The Jeep Commercail was the one that said diesel. Probably for the Grand Cherokee. But I didn’t know that they still were making those. or the liberty diesel. But that is what is was about. Anyways, good marketing,

Are people that oblivious? The only reason there offering the gas card is to steer people away from the hefty rebates. This is a marketing scam to boost chryslers already slumping second quarter numbers. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

The vehicles excluded from the offer are excluded because they are niche vehicles that no not need, nor would likely benefit, from the offer.

autonut: it already is successful if they’re extending it. You’re dead on with ‘clean the lot’. Gas prices are the jugular these days and they went for it. Not so much of a gamble but simply smarts.

I believe it will be successful. I see nothing controversial in it. Chrysler need to clean the lot and what a better way to do it? It is creative and if it will move cars and trucks everybody else will look like schmucks if they offer $2.75/gallon. And I think it was well thought out proposal: working trucks and vans (RAM Classic cab & Sprinter) will pass cost of fuel to the customer of owner; SRT’s, Viper, Challenger, Crossfire are not for fuel conscious and sold on looks and appeal; Chrysler can’t make enough 4 door Wranglers and 2 doors will move by association. for the rest it is a great deal. it is old American ingenuity: we’ll save you money on gas(few bucks a week) if you buy our cars (few hundred a month).

Maybe because the Neon would use fewer gallons over those 36,000 miles requiring less money from Chrysler?

If gas does hit $5/gallon or so, I guess we’ll at least get to laugh at Chrysler for failing once again.

If the programs turns out to be super-successful, you can be guaranteed that it’ll only be a matter of time before another automaker rolls out a similar program however they will fix the price at $2.75 or some other measurable amount lower than what Chrysler has. This could be interesting…

sweet! Think of the hundreds or thousands of dollars people are going to save when gas hits $5.00 a gallon and there will be plenty of cheap slightly used chrysler products on the market after the rebate period ends for cost conscious consumers that can afford $5.00 a gallon.
