Agm - I am clearly aware of that. That is why I asked if the head of marketing has anything to do with design and engineering. If he has significant imput in that area, great. If not, what's the point in even hiring him?

Guys, you need good leadership to have good results. Change starts at the top. That's simply how it works.

Did ANY of you ever stop to think that the reason why the heads of design/engineering suck is because of poor leadership and organization at the top?

Get the right people who can get the right people, then you have a start.

Can you auto industry insiders tell me if the head of marketing has anything to do with what is put on dealer lots, or does (s)he just try to sell what is dropped on them? I would be a hell of a lot more optomistic if Cerberus hired some DESIGNERS or ENGINEERS! Please, how about BUILDING good cars??!! Do that, and sales will occur.

Chrysler WILL stick around a lot longer than most of you will live. You can't kill a company that invented the Challenger, Charger, Viper, Ram and others. Face it punks, you're all scared Chrysler is going to own the streets even more with their awesome vehicles.

Wow.. Press left Toyota? That's big. I'm no fan of Nardelli, but this move seems to make tons more sense. Maybe Chrysler may stick around longer than we thought!

I agree with Deanster. I think they approved the Dodge Demon. That was definitely a step in the right direction.

Another good decision was cancelling production of the truly hideous Imperial sedan. This monstrosity would have added nothing to the company's turnaround.

Let's just hope that some of this sound decision making is utilized for some of their mainstream models.

^ Well, they gave the go-ahead to the Dodge Demon, right? That's a start. That was a smart move. Just wait it out, there's nowhere to go but up when you're rock bottom.

WOOKIE62 - truly. I am giving them a clean slate, but so far the new managment hasn't made any changed that need to be made, mainly improving interiors and exteriors so nothing else like the Sebrings comes out of Chrysler

It takes time to turn a car company around, but it appears as though Cerberus is serious about it. If you don't like the recently introduced or upcoming products, you have to remember that these products are not really representative of the "New" Chrysler. These products were developed and pretty much locked into place when Daimler had control and was trying to derail the company. I can't say that I am very excited about anything currently on the dealers' lots or what's coming in the near future, but I am hopeful and willing to give Chrysler LLC a chance to prove what it can do. It's just going to take some time.

Hopefully it isn't already to late to fix it... I still am waiting for the Challenger to come out and VERY SORRY they aren't going to make the firepower as it was REALLY SWEET and would have sold very well i think.. I NEVER liked the name firepower though I think they could have come up with something sexier than that on crack.

I will never again buy Chyrsler products, but on JD Power they are NOT at the bottom and they do better than some "desirable" cars.

Maybe this Press guy can get the engineers to look at the product AFTER it leaves the factory and starts to fail, break, and die.

Press can then BEAT the engineers until they redesign it and make it work right. Then Chrysler will succeed.

I have a tough time believing in chyrsler, they need a revolution in their products and their thinking, hiring a few new exec's will not turn the company around, it will take far more, I suggest starting with the heads of design, such as interior, and exterior, then whittle out anyone who even thinks current chryslers are remotely close to pleasing designs. The company needs a fresh start, not a band-aid patching up of current philosiphie.... you can only market a POS so far, their needs to be something of substance behind it.

"There is nothing new about Chrysler, at least so far"? Wow, tough room. It's been only a few weeks since Cerberus took the wheel. They have more than a decade's worth of stupidity to counteract. Sorry there isn't a new lineup in the showrooms yet.

Why would Press jump ship like this? It must be a show-me-the-money kind of thing, like with Mullaly at Ford. Compensation aside, on paper it's a move with a lot of potential downside.
