Chrysler has announced that it will idle four plants and a shift at a fifth plant due to a supplier issue. Plastech Engineered Products Inc. — a major U.S. plastic trim supplier — filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and have stopped shipping parts to Chrysler.
The interruption of supply forced Chrysler to idle its Belvidere, Newark, Sterling Heights and Toledo North production plants. Chrysler will also cut a second shift at its Toledo Supplier Park.
Together, the plants produce the Dodge Caliber, Durango, Nitro and Avenger, the Jeep Patriot, Liberty and Wrangler and the Chrysler Aspen and Sebring.
Plastech also supplies General Motors, Ford and Johnson Controls, but no other interruptions have been reported.

For once, LimpPenis64mm is right. We’re talking about Chrysler models here, you could build those interiors out of discarded tupperware.

I was thinking the same thing bolex … they can claim Force Majure (not sure if I spelled that right), basically saying “it’s not our fault that we can’t build these stupid cars, we’re victoms of circumstance and so nobody can sue us”.

Maybe they should start using BMW’s/Mercedes-Benz’ suppliers for their vehicle interiors. Just saying…if this supplier can’t deliver, look elsewhere.
