Chrysler Imperial to cost $60,000, arrive in 2010?

A new report by “The Auto Writer” Matthew Keegan reiterates a recent Edmunds report that Chrysler Imperial Concept will be built as a production car in 2010, as a 2011 model. The report also says the car could be priced as high as $60,000, compared to the Chrysler 300C, which maxes out at $42,000. Moreover, Keegan said that the production Imperial is likely to retain its 214-inch length and 123-inch wheelbase. The larger dimensions require a great deal of modification to the 300C platform, which has contributed to the long wait time.

I can’t imagine why anyone would buy this monstrosity, especially for 60K. Did everyone over at Daimler-Chrysler suddenly lose their vision? This is precisely why the US automakers are in so much trouble.

They’re not going to use an S-Class platform in a Dodge/Chrysler. Ever. It was enough of a horror that they might be using the R-Class, but the Mercedes flagship??? Heh, not unless they want to tank the Mercedes prestige for a car that will probably not last for more than 1 product cycle…

That said, I’d rather ride in the limo version of this than the Lincoln or Cadillac. Say what you will, this thing is distinctive looking. But drive it - hell no.

i’m not one to say a car is ugly…i usually just say it isn’t for me. but i have made a few exceptions…pontiac aztec, that buick thing, and now this. wow! it really is ugly, especially in that color. distinctive can at least be nice looking…

They should use the Dodge Ram chassis and give it an open rear bed to compete with the Escalade EXT and Mark LT. The styling is perfect for it.

If they want to build a couple of hundred, fine, but they should at least build an Imperial Eagle DropHead and its over-horsepowered twin sibling Chrysler 300N (the next heir in the true letter series).

Actually, I plan on getting a crossfire, they look damn nice. Maybe would have been better has an uber luxery rollerskate Imperial C1 (”C” as in Crown).

i don’t get it, everyone’s ga-ga over the 300C, yet this is getting bashed for looks when this looks more like the Rolls Royce Phantom than the 300C could ever wish to be…

Dude they’re really pushing their luck with the 300 fluke (imo it’s a fluke hehe). $60K is a lot that car will stay on the dealer lot for a long time hehe. The one in the picture looks similar to a Bentley for some reason [o . O ]

Well to start 2010 is 4 years off and any motherf*$#@! that thinks the design won’t change by then has obviously got a screw loose.

Maybe all you GM, Ford fans should try talking about the brand you like instaed of trying to make DCX look like **** after all i would say a $3.4 BILIION dollar profit sure beats loosing 1 or 2 billion.
