Chrysler is finalizing its $4 billion government loan, the automaker said earlier today in a release. Chrysler was granted $4 billion of the $17.4 billion granted to it and fellow Detroit automaker General Motors by the Bush Administration. Meanwhile, the automaker is apparently receiving some flak thanks to its controversial Thank You ad we told you about last week.

Chrysler LLC is continuing its discussions with the Treasury Department and is working tirelessly to complete the loan requirements,” Chrysler said in a statement released to the media. “The company looks forward to finalizing the agreement for financial assistance in the near future.”

Yet Chrysler has been scrutinized by certain conservative agenda groups for spending money on the “Thank You” ad that appeared online and in print last week and this week.

“It’s quite ridiculous to be spending that kind of money,” Princella Smith, spokeswoman for American Solutions, an organization headed by former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, told Fox News. “Those ads are just a precise example of the fact that they do not get it … and it’s just in our faces.”

Chrysler spent upwards of $200,000 for full page ads in the Wall Street Journal and more than $100,000 for a full page ad in USA Today, Fox News says.
