Continuing its year-long 75th anniversary celebration, Chrysler’s Mopar division has taken the wraps off a new customized Chrysler 300 model at the Chicago auto show.

Called the Mopar ’12 300, the custom model is instantly recognizable by its blacked-out look. The car features a Gloss Black grille, Gloss Black 20-inch wheels and Mopar Blue body-side stripes. Of course, unique badging is also part of the package.

Inside the Mopar ’12 300 is draped in even more black, including Katzkin leather seats with contrasting blue stitching, thick-rimmed steering wheel and a unique shifter knob covered in black leather.

Motivation for the Mopar ’12 300 is provided by Chrysler’s 363 horsepower 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. Although not much has changed under hood, Mopar has increased the car’s final drive ratio from 3.06 to 3.91, resulting in a 0-60 time of just over 5 seconds.

To ensure that kind of acceleration is kept in check, the Mopar ’12 300 has been fitted with upgraded brakes, a sports-tuned suspension and stickier tires.

Mopar will produce just 500 units of the customized 300, with sales slated to begin this summer. The Mopar ’12 300 will carry a starting price of $49,700, which includes an $825 destination charge.
