Chrysler mulling 30-day money-back guarantee?

06/22/2006, 6:31 PM

By admin

A number of media reports today suggested DaimlerChrysler is considering offering a 30-day money-back guarantee on all Chrysler Group vehicles as an added incentive for customers to buy its vehicles. Rumors of the program first surfaced on online discussion forums, including Mopar-centric Allpar. Today, the Detroit News reported that Chrysler was putting the finishing touches on the plan, which would allow customers to return vehicles within 30 days and only pay a milage fee. Details of the plan were reportedly unveiled at a dealer meeting on Wednesday. However, a Chrysler spokesman told Leftlane that the reports are “purely speculation.” He said details of the next incentive plan “have not been finalized” and “we are looking a number of options.” He characterized any report to the contrary as “not accurate.” The Leftlane Perspective: Chrysler may not have given the green light to this idea just yet, but it’s certainly interesting.

Saturn had (maybe still has?) a similar return policy and I know several people who used it when they found the cars didn’t live up to the first impression

If your looking for a Chrysler vehicle, wait for this policy to go into effect. I’m sure you’ll be able to get a great deal as the market will suddenly flood with slightly used vehicles.

Seriously, I would be astonished if this policy actually appeared.

I wish I had a 30 money back guarantee on my BMW M5. I would have turned it in after of week of dealing with SMG while driving around town.

I can see the lawsuits now…

(salesman) “No, no, no. It’s new! Trust me. Those 300 miles on it are just from the shipping it here from another dealship.”

How many people would buy a car without checking to see if it were ever titled, thinking it was new? ZERO.

Bad idea if it ever happens. Chrysler will go out of business. You could just take the car for a joy ride week, a vacation drive, etc. Bad, bad, bad idea.

Notice how Gm is not following suit? There would be no new cars left on the road if they offered something like this

Guys – #1 is right. Saturn originated this 30-day money back return policy when they opened the doors in 1990 with their 1991 line of SL and SC cars. This policy remained in effect for several years until it was modified from money back to an exchange policy (also within 30 days and 1500 miles limit). The vehicle exchange policy is still in effect.

Uh, there aren’t any new cars on the road. They’ve all been used, if they are on the road. Right?

Bah-zing!!!

So if you smarten up in 30 days after wasting your money on a Chrysler vehicle, you can get rid of it and go to your nearest GM store and buy a real car.

Good. Put Chrysler out of business, they don’t belong on my roads with my Chevy truck
