Earlier this year, Nissan inked a deal with Chrysler to supply the Michigan-based automaker with small cars for sale in South America. While the deal did not include any Chrysler vehicles getting re-badged as Nissans, it was widely speculated that Chrysler could supply Nissan with a full-size pickup truck. Those predictions appear to be well founded as Chrysler and Nissan announce a landmark on Monday.
According to the automakers’ press release, Chrysler will begin building a full-size truck for Nissan that will hit the U.S. market in 2011. The new truck — which will presumably replace the ailing Titan – will be built at Chrysler’s Saltillo Assembly Plant in Mexico but will feature a design theme that is unmistakably Nissan.

The deal will also include Nissan providing Chrysler with a new small car for sale in the U.S. and Europe in 2010. While the previous deal was based around the Nissan Versa, neither automaker announced which vehicle the new model would be based on.

Nissan head Carlos Ghosn has been shopping around for a U.S. auto partner even since GM stopped negotiations with the Japanese automaker over a year ago, but it appears that Ghosn has finally found what he was looking for.
