Chrysler is stuffed until they don't sort out the UAW cost.

Renault-Nissan are smart enough to learn from Daimler-benz's mistake - or atleast I hope.

I would much rather see Chrysler working with Nissan on small car development than with Chery. As long as Chrysler doesn't start offering badge engineered Nissan clones, then I don't think it's a bad idea.

I think both companies could learn, grow, and improve if they work together. I do hope this isn't a first step in another "merger of equals" deal like Chrysler had with Daimler. As long as the goal is to share knowledge and technology but remain separate entities, then I think it could work.

I'd say those two are perpetually insecure. Chrysler always looking for partner and Gnosn as well. I don't know why, it does not make much sense. Chrysler just produced a decent series of 4 cylinder engines, they do have access to Benz diesel bin all they need to do improve a bit on a new platform, put new body stamps for Caliber and drop Benz diesel in trucks and cars and they can ride the storm. What Nissan will get out it is totally unknown. Even if they don;t compete with each other they need to compete with #1 & #2 in each country respectfully (for Chrysler it is also #3 in US).

1. Nissan stay away from Chrysler transmissions

2. Chrysler stay away from Renault...don't even think about it.

3. Crush the Versa and try again.

4. Stuff a Hemi into the G and M cars.

RicardoHead: You're like a broken record; seems like evry day, you're whipping out more support for anti-Toyota arguments. But that's not really your fault, is it?

"insufficient hardness" Not my concern

johnny: "Coming soon to a Mopar store near you: the SRT-Micra!" Funny. Which one is the Micra again?

philsshon: It makes more sense to rebadge a Versa than a Chery.

frylock350: How about a SRTQ, somewhere between the Z and the GT-R?

Heh insufficient hardness.....

But seriously RicardoHead that couldn't be less relevant (this coming from a chevy truck driver who thinks the tundra is a joke of a truck).

You know what would be a cool result of these talks (it'll never happen but still) is an Infiniti G35 SRT-8.

Ricardo, those Tundra recalls always seem to involve pieces of the truck coming apart, don't they? LOL!

On topic: Chrysler-Nissan alliance? Perhaps an attempt to truly compete with Toyota in promoting vehicular narcolepsy?

Toyota recalling 15,600 Tundra pickups

DETROIT (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said on Friday that it is recalling 15,600 Tundra pickup trucks in the United States because a rear propeller shaft may separate at the joint.

The recall involves 2007 model-year Tundra four-wheel-drive pickup trucks.

"There is a possibility that a joint in the rear propeller shaft may have been improperly heat treated, resulting in insufficient hardness," Toyota said in a statement.

This may cause a section of the rear propeller shaft to separate at the joint, it added.

No injuries or accidents have been connected to the recall.
