Chrysler reduces warranty costs by 29 percent

Although Wall Street continues to be wary about Chrysler and its future, the Michigan-based automaker seems to have no shortage of good news. The latest bit of sunshine comes from warranty costs, which Chrysler says it has reduced by 29 percent.

According to Chrysler manufacturing chief Frank Ewasyshyn, Chrysler has managed to reduce warranty costs by nearly a third by improving manufacturing quality and overall efficiency. Chrysler tied Toyota this year for most-efficient automobile manufacturer.

Ewasyshyn also credits new customer satisfaction teams for pinpointing potential problems and troubleshooting them before they become major issues.

Over the last seven years, Chrysler has reduced the manhours required to produce a vehicle from 44.28 hours to 30.37 hours, according to Automotive News.

Now, if they just could build something I would actually like to buy. I had a Sebring for a rental a few weeks ago and it was pure crap compared to a Kia Rondo that I had rented a few days after it.

Perhaps because the number of vehicles they have sold has dropped by 29%?????

They’ll spin this as some increase in vehicle quality, which we all know to be totally false.

Pretty sure we all know where this little ‘bit of sunshine’ is coming from, but it certainly beats what usually escapes from that part of the anatomy.

As usual, there is good news for an American company and every idiot in here has to talk $H!T about them. If LLN replaced the word “Chrysler” with “toyota” in this same article, everyone’s comments would be completely opposite with nothing but praise for toyota. import humping fags.

The reason why they saved warranty costs is because they **** their customers on everything that breaks. When the U-joint went at 10,000 km on my last Jeep TJ, they said it was due to my aggressive driving habits and was self-inflicted. Meanwhile I never took it off road. They made me pay for it. They also made me pay for the hourly rate on the manifold that came loose and started rattling. They said I must have hit the undercarriage somewhere off-roading again. Everything I said fell on deaf ears. Being too busy at work to **** around and argue, I paid and walked away. Never went back to that dealer.

The Real reason for this drop. I have worked for 16 years for a MAJOR parts supplier for Chrysler. In the last year Chrysler has stopped picking up the tab on warranty repairs. When a part goes bad and is deemed covered by the warranty, the supplier that made the part is made to replace the part and cover all the cost of the work. Then you have to remember that most of the components are cheap parts from such wonderful places as India, Korea and China!
