Chrysler announced earlier this week that it wants sales outside North America to hit around 500,000 units by 2014, a large step up from the 144,000 vehicles it anticipates selling overseas this year.
By the end of 2009, Chrysler expects its sales outside of North America to account for about 11 percent of its total market. The automaker says it is aiming for a figure just below 20 percent in the near future.
The automaker will undoubtedly benefit from a stronger distribution network in Europe and South America thanks to its tie-up with Fiat. The Italian manufacturer is also planning to assemble Fiat and Lancia-based vehicles using a Chrysler badge for consumption in certain foreign markets. Smaller vehicles will be Fiat-engineered, while larger vehicles will continue to ride on platforms developed by Chrysler in Michigan.
Currently, most Chrysler-badged products sold overseas are nearly identical to their counterparts sold in North America.

To make up for the 1/4 sales here in the states? Best move would be to stay overseas all together. They aren’t American anymore so we don’t need them. This is GM Country.
What is good for General Motors is good for the Country.

I’d like to quadruple my bank account too – among other things… Not going to happen – but it’s about as believable as this from Chrysler.
I wonder if it’s as rare to have a Chrysler product in Europe as it is a Ferrari – maybe they are like collector items there. Who the heck knows – all I know is no one wants them here where they are supposed to sell, Europeans must look at them like they do Indian or Chinese cars.

Chrysler-Jeep used to be quite successful in Europe and has pretty good name recognition. With the right products, I wouldn’t count them out although quadrupling sales might be a bit much

Dodge and Chrysler cars (the larger ones) will be Lancia and Alfa brands in Europe. So I’m thinking they’re counting those sales as part of their numbers.

Quadrupling sales with the current line of cars in Europe will probably be a stretch. Although with selling of Lancia and Fiat made vehicles under the Chrysler badge may help. Please correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t Fiat only 20% of Chrysler with the option to go up to 35%? If this is true, that means Chrysler is still majority own by the US, and there for is still American. They just merged with Fiat, and sold most of their assets to them.

I think they should downsize the new Charger slightly so it can be similarly sized to a Ford Falcon, sell those in Europe and Australia, give it a sporty suspension option so Europeans like it, price it cheap and they can sell loads of those. and move the 300C more upscale. and do the same to the Challenger.
Other than that they should redesign and refresh their current lineup, improve quality. This is what the Chrysler should be like. (So they could be more luxury and battle the Euro brands)
They should buy the Kappa platform from GM, it will help Dodge, Chrysler and Alfa Romeo. replace the crappy truck gearboxes with a ZF 6 and the Challenger manual. modify it so it can fit the V6 Pentastar and Fiat/Chrysler I4’s
Lancia Delta based Chrysler Nassau: PT Cruiser replacement, sedan and wagon forms. Performance SRT4 version, I4 engine from the Caliber with Fiat tech ~325HP + AWD. Plant built: Caliber Plant
Kappa Platform based Chrysler Cirrus: 3 Series fighter, sedan coupe, convertible and wagon forms. Performance SRT6 version Turbo Pheonix. 380HP. Plant Built: Durango plant
SWB LX Platform based Chrsyler Concorde: 200C looks, 5 Series fighter, sedan coupe and wagon forms. Performance SRT8 version 6.4 Alluminum Hemi 540HP. Plant Built: Sebring plant
LWB LX Platform 300C: Move upscale, slight increase in size. 7-Series fighter with sedan, coupe and wagon forms. SRT8 6.4 Hemi. Plant: Brampton LWB version 300C Imperial. with 5.7 Hemi. ~425HP
Kappa based Chrysler Conquest: 300 Hemi C concept looks updated, Z4 fighter. Performance SRT6 Turbo Pheonix 380HP. Plant Built: Durango Plant
Chrysler Firepower(Crossfire name maybe)?: Same as Concept, hand built at Dodge Viper plant. 6.4 Hemi SRT8 version. Mercedes SL/Audi R8 fighter.
Chrysler Voyager: Renamed and Refreshed Town and Country, name changed because Voyager is a better name.
Chrysler Pacifica: Full sized CUV based on Town and Country/Voyager. Plant Built: Windsor Plant.
With that lineup Chrysler would be kicking, the base prices could be slightly lower than competitors and they are also based on Dodge’s mostly so they wouldn’t be as costly to maintain(?) the design language should mostly be like the 200C concept’s. The reason why i didn’t use names such as New Yorker, NewPort or Fifth Avenue is because they sound too “Old” and Cirrus, Conquest(A rebadged Mitsubishi Starion) and Concorde are better names.

The new car market has shrunk by 30 percent, but that’s OK because every automaker is going to double their market share!

This news story — BFD. Chrysler “wants” and “expects” sales outside of North America to increase. Well, I “want” and “expect” to marry a nymphomaniac stripper who owns a chain of liquor stores and loves to cook and clean.

with the garbage chrysler is building now, I doubt they will even sell a few hundred cars in overseas markets. Who the hell would trust a car built by a bankrupt automaker that has gone through so many hands of ownership?? It would be insane to buy a Chrysler, or GM or Ford. All of it complete unreliable highly depreciative crap.

So yes, Chryslers going to quadruple overseas sales just as soon as they pay off all those loans by 2014.

Sorry Johnny – I was late for work this morning for about the 20th straight day and was a little cranky. I’m probably one to actually back Chrysler, so I guess it was a tad mean what I said. It’s just funny to me if I were in Europe looking at hatchbacks and with about a bizzillion great ones – who in their right mind would ever consider a Caliber there? I mena seriously? Or how about an Avenger? If they sell one of those over there it’s alot.
Hey I’ll be at the Canucks-Blues game next Tuesday – Look for me in the stands! I’ll be the guy wearing a retro Blues Gretzky jersey from the 2 days (ok it was really close to 3 months) he played on our team.

I think it is doable. Jeep is popular in Europe. A lot of companies are trying to come up with similar vehicles, but Jeep is Jeep. Chryco geniuses did not understand the value of the brand and could not figure out how to manufacture and sell them in Europe. Jeep were manufactured in Austria with diesel engines, but it was halfhearted effort. Machione can put his magic touch and sell them. If could resurrect FIAT from dead, selling more popular vehicles is not insurmountable task for him and his crew. This is not GM with Putz in the driver seat.
