Chrysler set to overtake Ford

DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler Group appears poised to surpass Ford to become the second-largest producer of cars and trucks in North America, perhaps as early as 2007, reports the Detroit Free Press. “If Chrysler has some winners with its new products, it could pass Ford in North American production as soon as 12 months from now,” Sean McAlinden, chief economist for the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, said Sunday.

With the brands Ford has they should be fighting for #1 not #2! Mercury should die.

heres whats going on right now (as far as the “big 3″ is concerned) daimlerchrysler is winning. general motors is near death with all this bankruptcy buissness, and ford made a leathal mistake with that gay ad campaign. meanwhile daimlerchryslers sales are only getting better and there releasing brand new, awesome models. theres no doubt in my mind that gm will probably go bankrupt and ford will be over passed by daimlerchrysler within the next couple of years.

Who cares about the gay ad campaign? No one. DCX has the best cars, but Ford and GM will rebound.
