On the heels of Chrysler ’s announcement that it won’t build a production version of the Imperial concept car, the automaker says that it plans to build more 300s at its Brampton, Ontario, plant. Chrysler plans to build export versions of the 300 in Brampton, which makes a diesel 300 for North America a distinct possibility.
Chrysler will take over some production of the 300, which has seen success in Europe and elsewhere. The Detroit News reports that Chrysler will build both right- and left-hand drive versions of the 300 in Brampton. Most 300s sold overseas are diesels, so Chrysler will assemble them in Ontario, as well.
Although purely speculation at this point, there is a possibility that the increased production capacity could spell a diesel 300 for sale in the United States and Canada.
