Awesome. Finally Chryslers got it right. TATAs are a legendary pioneering Indian company which are trusted and excellent partners to have (from software to salt to space). If you cant beat them , join them . The Tatas / Chrysler combo will over shadow the FIAT agreement (which is just european inroads and a lot of paper clogging talk). The Chrysler / TATA partnership are evenly matched and a great combo. The Ace is a great looking electric vehicle I must say. Win-WIn.

The gov't has mandated that a certain number or % of vehicles in operations (mainly ground support) for airlines have to be non-polluting. This is to offset the massive pollution put out by the planes. So all the airlines are phasing in electric tugs, hydrant trucks, refuelers, stair trucks, etc.
There also is a company that sells omni directional vehicles that the operator is always facing forward. Because so many dumb asses have hit planes.
Here is a link to the omni, there is a video on the site.

TATA in all Slavik languages means DAD. I wonder what it means in Indian? So if your Russian, Polish, Croatian, Romanian and so on, when you see this car you can say here comes Dad!

What a stupid story! This is an NEV! Neighborhood Electric Vehicle. It is designed for low speed only, under 30 MPH. It has very little safety regulations and can only drive in markets that allow them. To go on the general roads here, over 30MPH, they need airbags, engineered rollover cabin, crash testing, tire pressure monitoring, etc, etc. This costs millions to do, and this vehicle is not suited for this application here, let alone the validation tests required. See it on the golf course.

Everybody: The picture makes it look bigger than it actually is. It's obviously not going to be used as a delivery truck for it's appropriate size.

Washington D.C. has a lot of small trucklets like this running about. I believe their diesels or gasoline though.

I would like to know if they will market a slightly bigger version of the Ace for the US market. They can call it the Bodacious. Then we can all stand by the side of the road and enjoy the Bodacious Tatas as they go by.

Agreed RSG: it could be very useful to a lot of operations. And 1c3dog: if it's survived India's climate it should make it even in the US' most arid regions.

I just don't know whether to laugh or cry now that Chrysler is now bringing in vehicles from both China and India.

It might make sense as a one location vehicle, i.e. lumber yards, golf course maintenance vehicle, factory complex runabout that sort of thing. Other than that, I agree, it really can't stand up as an on the road delivery vehicle.

I'll reserve my comment until I actually get one of these to test drive. One thing's for sure though, it better be able to withstand heat, otherwise they'll be alienating pretty much the entire Tropics. Exploding batteries and scattered body parts are the last thing we need around here...

I don't know what the range of this all-electric vehicle is , but it seems it would run out of juice around midday. A delivery truck racks up a lot of miles in one day.
