It's unfortunate that the updated LX/LY models [Think 300 and Charger] won't be ready for another year - at least. Especially given the fact that Chrysler could milk this 'coming out of bankruptcy' thing for all it's worth by showing off a bunch of 'new and improved' models. But no. All of those about to reopen plants will just be building more of the same. I'm not worried about Chrysler making it in the long run. I'm worried about them making through the next year and half.

Hey thanx leftwing glad to be back @ bigdawg
all it did was delay it. I have a customer waiting for a ram 1500 slt with rambox. the parts were held up because of the bankruptcy so it could not be assembled on time. but the truck will be hitting paint soon and shipped within a month. if you were a smart salesman you quoted the customer 8-10 weeks anyway. my customer really wanted that truck and is very understanding and excited to finally get his truck.

bigdawg, do not know for sure but I would say with almost 90% confidence that they would have built out the vehicles in all the plants before shutting down. Only makes sense. You would not want to leave all that metal sitting on the line. Parts were there. Only cost 1 day of manpower. At least put them in the parking lots and wait for the dealers to take them.

Yeah sure, moparsalesman1, that's why Ford, Honda, Mazda, Hyundai and Nissan and Toyota US operations all went bankrupt, closed their factories, and are emerging again right now from their bailout money.

Oh, wait...

@ 2telluthetruth
I have been quiet for a while but let me tell you. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. We were selling plenty of cars before bankruptcy like EVERY manufacturer the economy affected us. I have been selling Chrysler Dodge Jeep for a long time and our "paperweights" sold fine until the ECONOMY took a crap. If anything you can talk shit about the poor corporate management that we had. I sell good products with fantastic warranties. The 2009 Ram is one of the best trucks on the market right now hands down. The 300 and the T and C make up 66% of the sales on the Chrysler side. I am not a particular fan of the interior of the sebring/avenger they are both good cars. Jeep is still winning awards the wrangler has the highest resale value of any domestic vehicle in production. The wrangler and cherokee make up the #1 selling compact and full size suv in the northeast. So know a litlle of what you speak of before you ramble on. Oh yeah btw "landfills fulled" is a completely ignorant thing to type on the internet for all to see.
P.S. The landfills are already fulled with 1995 1/2 to 2000 Toyota Tacomas that the frames rotted through!

Resume production of what. The same garbage they were unable to move b4 their bankruptcy! They should've taken this oppurtunity to not make anymore of those unwanted 'lot paper weights' n only resume production on the wranglers, 300/charger/challenger, rams, vipers, n a few of their generic minivans. The thought of whats goin to happen to all those brand new unsold vehicles is a bit troubling. We have enough garbage to keep the landfills fulled.

I'm friends with a Chrysler salesman and he will be thrilled by this news. At one point he had to refund deposits on 4 factory ordered Challengers because they simply weren't building any and that was a while back. Not to mention his lot is getting pretty barren of any new stock- period.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the 2010 lineup is going to look like.
